Here's an idea, wear it DA. Threads like this piss me off, I've lost 2 close friends b/c they weren't wearing their seatbelt. It's not worth it, just put it on.

You can code the beep noise off and still have it displayed on the cluster.

I agree with what your saying about wearing seatbelts.. but this blanket statement does not consider the scenarios where most people are irritated by the chime.

I have to unbuckle myself to swipe my security clearance for work (you know, because everybody drives SUV's) and it annoys the crap out of me to have to rebuckle it to travel for less than a minute through parking lots. When I move my car through the parking deck to get it washed it also bothers me. When I leave the gym, which is across the street( under 25mph) and I am filthy sweaty.

The most annoying scenario is when anyone gets in my car and is attempting to get themselves situated, ignores the seatbelt extender, and then the chime goes off. I constantly need to repremand people to put their immediately so I don't have to listen to it. It literally comes on about 15-20 seconds after the car starts moving.

Anyway.. OP, there's 3 ways you can get your chime to stop.

Buy a metal seatbelt insert, remove the chime from the actual gauge cluster itself, or to deactivate it off through your BMW dealer. You have to apply for some special.. I don't know what, but BMW legally needs to be released should any accident occur. I know from other threads on the issue that they are very unwilling to do this, but if you insist they will oblige.

Your chime will turn off if you leave it bong for a minute or 2. I have an '07 and unfortunately I don't have the more modern BMW "boooOONG" noise, but instead an absolutely obnoxious constant beeping noise.

I am eventually going to remove the chime unit itself from the gauge cluster. The flashing seatbelt warning on the gauge display is more thna enough reminder.. as if any of us even needed reminding. Its a freaking seatbelt, you wear it.

If you must, order one online like that link above, or visit a local junk yard and cut one out, they'll probably charge you a buck. When I need tiny things like that, my junk yard doesn't even charge me.

From someone who never wears his seatbelt because I hate the way it presses against me and wrinkles my clothes I actually wear it now that I have a BMW because the noise makes me want to rip my ears off. Just wear it dude. Saves lives. But I don't think it's right to have people try to tell you to wear it like they are your parents. You know what to do.

When I enter a drive-thru at a bank or fast food place I undo my seatbelt to shift my huge mass around to dig my wallet out. I'm just sitting in line, so I don't wear my seatbelt, but chime, chime, chime - that's just another scenario where no chime would be nice.

I absolutely hate wearing a seatbelt, but I've done it every day for 20-plus years.

Used to write for a small town newspaper, and every morning I called the highway patrol to ask about any accidents in the county. Almost every story about a fatality ended with "seat belts were not in use."

That said, what I would like is the ability to turn off the gong when my passenger is a couple gallons of milk.

Just put the bloody thing on. It takes what a second or two to pull the seatbelt on.

I went to a junk yard and looked for seat belt connectors that would fit.... 2010 ford work great . I cut two out of a 2010 explorer that work great. $5.00 each.
