I second Alan I.'s question. Anyone know how Forgestar wheels are cast before the flow forming process? Since the flow forming only impacts the structure of the rim, I'm curious as to how the spokes are cast since that would also impact strength.
Also, since it's one piece, aren't you heat treating the whole wheel? I'm assuming you'd use a T6 heat treatment since it's simple and pretty standard. I haven't looked at T6 in a while, I can't remember how much of a risk of over-aging there is. Since the flow forming wouldn't introduce mechanical deformation in the spokes, which wouldn't lead to recrystallization... are you risking coarsening of the grains in the spokes? |

Bump for answers...
There are tons of vendors here that push Forgestar wheels and I'm sure someone could get us some info or even pics of the manufacturing process from their actual facility.

Chances are slim....the market is flooded with all these new wheel companies trying to make a quick buck with cheap, sub-par wheels. This is info they DON'T want the consumers to know....
What i've learned with wheels....you get what you pay for 90% of the time. Go with a reputable big name company that is at least LPC unless the roads are pristine in your area. At the same time 8K wheels from ADV1 doesn't make them any better than 4K wheels from BBS either.

Am I the only person who notes that gravity "spun" wheels are in most all scenarios better than low pressure cast? Think about it... The g's and vacuum created with a centrifuge-like device would be much greater and I would think also more evenly.
Am I wrong? Quote:

Advanti DST are flow-formed using the MAT process licensed from Enkei, and made in Taiwan.
