Why isnt there a E90 335i DCT?

I mean why only have the DCT in the coupe and 'vert....

Seems a bit daft to me....even more so as its main rival the S4 gets a DSG....

Don't know.

You can even get a flipping 1 series with DCT (135i coupe) so why not the E90/E91??

I suppose its because real drivers only buy coupes

I don't know why, but I find the 3 series saloons a better handling car than the coupes - and I've had both.

Whats that got to do with gearbox options

I drive both on a weekly basis and have to disagree.

Yeah, its goto be marketing fecked-up decision. It is making me look at the S4....do you hear that BMW!

I would rather have the saloon / touring imo and of course I want the best auto gearbox in it.

It might be a staged introduction,

M3 coupe first
M3 saloon second
E92/93 335i third
135i Coupe fourth (or joint third maybe?)

Maybe E90/91 335i fifth?

Anneka??

Makes the most sense.

I think it's more a bit of snobbery to be honest. Can't see why BMW don't offer the DCT transmission on other cars and engines. VAG stick their DSG on just about every product they have, giving them greater appeal.

They do now, but in the beginning they had a steady phase of introduction starting for example, only with the 3.2 V6 A3's then moving onto the 2.0T cars etc etc.

They seem to start with the perceived 'premium' models to extract maximum cash for it over the longest time, then move down the range.

IMO, in the 3 series marketing 'hierarchy' M3 comes first, then the coupes and verts then the utilitarian E90/1...

You're missing the M3 Cabriolet from the above lineup,... which was the first to offer DCT

So looks like it is on the way.....

Yep sorry, I was lumping cabs and coups together.

Makes sense though.

You can take great car, make it heavier, slower and bendier, then charge more for it so that people can see your new wig blowing in the fresh air....

People who'd buy that need to be at the top of your customer tree!

I wouldn't expect you to understand the appeal of convertibles, being from Manchester... but how the hell did you know I had a new wig!

You're right, verts are useless up here - scumbags just steal your new wig and your hairdressing tool kit if you put the roof down..

Nothing - I was just responding to the " suppose its because real drivers only buy coupes " - statement.

Which was meant as tongue in cheek sarcasm......

I'm a saloon driver through and through (until children forced a tourer, still 4 door though)
