I will be doing this if I move to an e90.

I haven't seen mine in years! But that's cuz I dim my interior lights to the lowest setting which turns the ambient lights off completely...anyone know if I could adjust the brightness separately??

Idk what is involved in getting these to illuminate - I have them on my coupe, but never tore the door panels off to take a looky see
Wire to a light bulb that clips into a hole that has a clear plastic wire type piece that reflects off the bulb

whoever does this is my hero. I've been wanting this ambient lighting ever since i bought the car... It's a shame that the sedans don't come with it. Come on BMW!

tube replacement....

hey guys....seems like this thread has been revived. i'm wondering if anyone has replaced just the tube successfully....the dealer pulled my door panel and cracked the tube just past the bulb. the panel comes off easy enough and the replacement tube is cheap enough but it didn't want to seem to come out. any hints on how to remove it?? does it pull from the front to the back (from the front of the car 'out')? any help would be appreciated

yeah i did it. what you wanna do is approach it from the back, not the front as thats where it connects to the lightbulb. you have to pry it out gently as it has a small hook on that end. after it loosens you can go ahead and start removing it. let me know if you made it!

I just had to fix mine few weeks ago (broke fiber light guide), I don't think there's way to retrofit one. That little panel is mounted with plastic studs which are melted.
dont mean to bring up an old topic to correct you but i was able to slide the plastic tube out completely with the LED at the end. it can be replaced

you can pull the tube out from the back to the front towards the light at the end. but very carefully not to snap it. slides right out. i did it yesterday because mine seem to be getting dimmer. bought new interior and my passenger door light is brighter than my driver door.
