GVA : mod friendly dealers
Just wondering, from experience, which dealer have you guys gone that are mod friendly during service? such as exhaust, chip, intake, or other modifications to a car?
thanks

from what i read here, north shore is best
but I had my DRL disabled before I brought it in and they resetted it and couldn't turn it back off. Now I am stuck with my DRL on, as I don't want to pay another $30(or $40?, i forgot) only to have it resetted again at my next service. Other than that, I have had good experience there |

i go to north shore too, bought my car there, i bought their very first e92 328i coupe, i bring my car for service in with gruppe m rep intake, ikon exhaust, h&r sports suspension, etc...they even asked me where i got my h&r sports because some of their clients saw my car being parked outside while servicing and wanted to get some...
when you go there, ask for Jason or Garret, those 2 are the best at North Shore, they know their stuff and big BMW fans, i think they drive E30/36 M3's and they look like brand new shape...

I went to North Shore for my first service even though I did not get my car from there. Jason was recommended to my by my broker. I have an appt. at Auto West this week to fix a burnt out bulb. I'll definitely be comparing the two experiences.
First impressions at Auto West are that whoever is answering the phone for the Service Dept. they have no clue what they are talking about. How can a burnt out bulb take up a 1hr appointment slot?? |

my question is not mainly about "quality of service" , but if there is any service department in GVA that is anal about modifications, and will refused to work on the car..
I dont mind taking my g-m intake out during service, but of course, if BJ, AW, or the bmw store allows it, then i rather keep it in and let them do my oil change.

EXACTLY~~!
i am going to get my car soon. when i do get it, i will start a list of mod including JB2HHR, intake, downpipe and exhaust. Though i will DIY them all, but i don't want to take them out every time when i go in for service. service department can be very evil, some can even help you to put things that are not suppose to be proper claims into warranty, and some will try their best trying to void your warranty. |

Maybe you should ask your SA regarding this issue. They should be able to give you an answer on how their dealership views this.

hum....will they opening admit that they will take in moded cars? or is it just an unspoken thing that both the SA and owner assume no mod exist?
sometimes i just think that it makes the SA's job easier by not revealing the truth. maybe the SA knows, he just assume he didn't see it~ remember, openly accept a moded car can get him fired~ |

I'd say don't really do anything with the engine. But let's say if your suspension blows after you installed some aftermarket springs, then they won't cover that. Basically the part of the car you mod will not be under warrantee anymore.
