Had a kid what'd I miss?
Is VRSF still the bees knees? Have things gotten any more affordable? Please tell me somethings gotten stupid cheap and it's a no brainer to get. I somehow still only have a tune which is absolutely mind boggling. I'm at ~70k ish and due for brake fluid, oil change and something else probably plugs. I'm open to the idea of doing something but the pricing and opportunity have to be right. Hard enough affording the hookers and booze never mind college tuition in 17 years and 6 months. Best mechanic around Lowell?

Haha, what's up man? I remember you from the first Bedford meet. At 70k, get the maintenance done first then head for more mods.

First, congrats on the kid it's a life changer but in a good way mine just hit 1 year.
VRSF is still the best bang for your buck and local. New thing is inlets vs. DCI. I would do the maintenance 1st and then some mods. I would do IC 1st then downpipes, CP, Inlets in that order. I don't know what your tune is but if cobb sell it and get MHD and get a custom tune. Even stock a custom tune is worth it. The stock MHD maps leave a bit to be desired the MHD Stage2 93 octane map is very aggressive for pump gas. It's targeting 1.28 bar (18psi) to redline, 5 degrees timing down low, 8 degrees timing up top, with a fairly heavy IAT timing taper. The gas pedal mapping is set very aggressive. It targets around 10psi at 30-40% throttle input and 18psi at 70% input. Very much a sprint-booster effect. If you are going to use that stock map LOG! If you ever want to talk batteries let me know. Maybe we can grab lunch and talk about the various kinds. The Seawater batteries look cool.

Just what I was looking for inlet vs DCI? Why sell COBB one of the added values I liked about Cobb was the support by others such as PRO TUNE FREAKS and how does the MHD work is it an appliance/application like COBB or more of a flash tune thingymajig? The sounds like batteries need attention also? Wtf happened while I was gone? Next thing you guys are going to tell me the earth is round and that I just can't have. I feel like Joe Dirt Who are you guys using for a mechanic, anyone worked with Autowork out of Lowell? |

If you are looking for a mechanic in Lowell, use Workshop on Lakeview ave. (right at the top near bridge street, same building as larrys comics) Ask for Dana, he runs the shop. Great mechanic and attention to detail is insane. He won't rape you on pricing. Repaired my DME when it fried, did my turbo and inlet install, anything i'm not comfortable doing myself I send it to him.
As for mods, definitely downpipes, charge pipe, intercooler, then inlets. |
