Not all models have the right FRM module to code it.

I beleive pre-LCI models cannot.

the nfrm module is needed to code AE DRL. Early models do not have the updated module that allows this.

I have done this mod to give angel eye welcome lights, but I am now looking to add my rear license plate lamp. Has any one done this? If so what is the easy path to tap in to the interior lights to send to the plate lamps?

The same way as the angel eyes. You just need to run the wires all the way to the back

I have gotten the rear plate lights to dim on and off as welcome lights now like my AEs. I didn't want to run cables all the way from front to back so instead I tapped the power going to the rear dome light. Then ran a wire down from the ceiling to the right rear C pillar into the trunk where the two plate light wires come in from the trunk lid. Can post pics if any of you other 2006 owners want welcome lights.

Wired my MTEC V3 AE's up to work as welcome lights using the same directions as the first post but used a 3 amp diode instead and everything is working as expected. Great job on the DIY.
