Intake Valve Cleaning?

I have been reading numerous threads of people trying to clean the intake valves's and it makes a hell of a difference when you do.

I am replacing my spark plus and while doing that adding BOV and CP next week. Now I do not have any "issues" with the car but when its idle, it seems like the RPM's jump. I am assuming its because of the spark plugs (80k on an 07 e92) have never been changed, I bought it at 58k, so I dont know before that

Now my question is, you think the intake valves being dirty can do that? I do not know if they are but I am just guessing.

Certainly! Dirty valves would definitely cause a noticeable change in performance or engine characteristics. I'm going to my dealer before I hit 50k to see if it can be done under warranty.

resurrecting this thread for good reason..

FYI - Get this done if you have over 45k on the odo.

Read about it if you're unclear as to what this is all about and why its essential if you want your n54 to perform optimally.

So in my search to find out who is going to do this for me, I called Classic BMW in Plano to see how much they would charge to walnut blast my intake. Long story short, its VERY CLEAR to me they are over charging the masses to pay for that nice new building they have. They wanted $1300+ to do it. I gasped.. 'are you sure this is what you charge and you understand what the procedure is?' he said yes, I said good bye!

A bit discouraged, I call BMW of Dallas on Lemmon Ave. I spoke to Peter, who was pretty helpful, and he said they would do it for $576. I was shocked!

This is the cheapest I have ever heard for this service, so I asked him to explain what it is to make sure we were both talking about the same thing and he described it exactly.. (take the intake off, blast the valves will walnut shell media, etc).

Guys, this is the best deal in town so far... Just thought I'd let you all know!

I want to get this done too, aiming for mid May. If anyone gets a cheaper quote lmk, I will probably post what I hear from different shops as it gets closer to that time.

If we can find a shop to do a couple of ours at the same time for a better rate, that would be cool. Hit your friends at local shops up and see if any of them are interested.

I would potentially be down for it... I'm about 3k from 45 on the odo... just depends on cost of course

Hey Thread Killer, can you buy a cheapo walnut blaster from harbor freight and clean my valves?

I'll even buy the blaster and material if you do it for less

i have dealt with cheapo harbor freight and other cheap peices of crap sand blasters.

i put 3 inline desiccant air driers on the thing, still had issues with clumping of media.

i literally threw it away i was so frustrated with it. they are PURE junk.

media and intake gaskets would be included in my quote. im gonna buy a bad mammajamma media cleaner, then fabricate an intake assembly that fits on N54 engines, or buy the BMW assembly to adapt to the head.

I'd be interested in a "group buy" as well. I've only got 40k on the odometer, but I'm going to do spark plugs next weekend, and this is next on the list. Don't really want to spend more than $500 or so, as this is mostly preventative at this point, although I have noticed a slight hesitation/blip in RPMs at highway cruising speeds, so I guess that could be the cause.

I'd be down. My guess is you could get quite a few if the price was right. <$500.
