What would you do with 30k?

Hypothetical question here: If you were given $30,000 to spend on a car what car would you buy? You can buy a 6k used car and throw 24k into the car, or you can just buy a 30k brand new car. Try to think of it as you dont have any other cars and you have to spend the 30k to spend on one car. So what would you do?

In my current situation, one $30,000 vehicle would have to be a lightly used 4x4 F-150 SuperCrew, or a nice lightly used SUV an SRT8 Jeep or something like that.

Buy an FR-S or Ford Focus ST. I would add some minor mods to the cars - new set of wheels/tires, perhaps ECU tune ...

I'm with this guy. Despite being down on horsepower compared to other cars I've owned, my E36 was probably the best one of them all.

Buy a mint E28, drop in a 1JZGTE, coil overs, custom lipped and barreled BBS RSs, and that would be my daily. $12-15 right there, depending on how much you pay for the car. I could go full retard and do a big single conversion and make a reliable 600-700whp without opening the motor and still be able to daily it and only be down a total of $17K at the very most. It would be one of the hardest cars on the road and will easily walk just about anything that you'll see on your daily commute. Then with a simple boost controller break the 1000whp mark when you really want to hurt some feelings.

Once you open your mind to real engine swaps and realize how simple they actually are, the possibilities are endless.

you don't even need to build the engine. ARP studs and an MLS headgasket is all you need to run 20+psi and run reliable 400whp. it's a great budget turbo car

I kind of want a reliable track rat so I suppose I would get one of those older Panoz Esperantes that were race prepped for about $22-24k and a decent trailer.

Thereabouts - high 20s, low 30s, depending. There's an Interlagos Z4MC on E46fanatics right now asking $25k or so, I think.

That's easy, here's what you do...

This means you only have one Car, so it has to be reliable, which means it has to be new and under warranty, an unreliable Car can cost you your Job, try calling work once a week to tell them you won't be coming into work because your Car broke down again.

Sooo...Buy a Toyota/Honda/Hyundai/Scion/BMW CPO for $30K including tax and licence.

Lets say you have a 48 month warranty, so you have to sell the Car when it expires.

If the car loses 50% in depreciation, then after 4 years the Car will be worth roughly $15,000. In the meanwhile, you open a savings account and pay yourself back $312 pm. It's like financing at 0%, but if you fall on hard times, nobody can tow your Car away.

After 4 years, you trade the Car in on a new one, give them $15,000 and you're back into a new Car.

Remember, use your savings like you're borrowing from a Bank, pay yourself back.
