Bullshit review

this guy has always had it out for M cars

check out the drag race

The ALpina has an empty tank, the M has half a tank

he even uses the M in efficient mode too!!!

He will do what ever to slow the M lol

and he starts talking about noise and quietness???? He's a dumb ass, the M sounds amazing!!! If he likes quietness so much, why did he pick the AMG 507 over the M?

This guys a dick ...

Horribly biased tests. Look at the gearbox/engine modes. The M3 is in comfort, the D3 is ready to fly. That's just one example. Letalone the extra 40kg of fuel. And we don't know what type of fuel was used.

The M3 is clearly the superior car and not just in speed.

Consider residuals. That D3 is going to be worth fuck all squared in 3 years. The M3 will hold its value far better.. That's why I've never bought an Alpina full stop or considered one, nice as they look.

Given the price of the Alpina it just must be the big M for me...

Not that I can afford either, granted

Josh, one counter. The M3 doesn't sound amazing. You heard one in the flesh?

It's easilly the most disappointing M car ever produced in terms of engine note.

BMW even know this which is why they've ALREADY created an M performance exhaust. Which just takes the piss, because if they know the car isn't up to their own standards they should fix it in the factory NOT charge the consumer extra to resolve a problem...

As I say I love the M3 in other aspects but it does sound like crap. Like a broken scooter when standing. Slightly better on the roll but not a huge amount.

I like the sound Dave!
It is no AMG

But for a twin turbo straight 6, it isn't bad.

I was never a fan of an E46 m3 as they were too raspy and sounded like civics in vtec (may be a little harsh). But of course you cant beat the V8... But for a turbo car, its pretty gd

But can you disagree with my assertion that it's the worst ever sounding M car?

The M135i which is also a turboed 6 cylinder sounds fantastic, so a good noise is possible. The M3 is just way off

I own an M135i and agree that it sounds great, but IMO the new M3 is streets ahead....sounds like a DTM racer.

Have you heard one at idle?

Are you sure the one you hear didn't have an M3 performance exhaust?

As I beg to differ, but I guess horses for courses ...

M3 & M4

I've driven both the M3 & M4

When the salesguy started up the M3 virtually every head in the car park turned with a big silly grin. Standard exhaust

I guess it depends what you're looking for. It is very different from previous M cars....doesn't sound as high revving...
