Got a weird call telling that my car warranty is being voided

Okay so this is the second time I got this weird call. When I picked up it's a automatic operator saying" This is a reminder that your vehicle warranty has been voided, press 1 to continue and talk to a representative".
So I continued by pressing 1...When the customer service picked it up.. I asked him wth is this call about? He said that MY MANUFACTURER HAS SENT THEM A NUMBER TELLING THAT MY WARRANTY HAS VEEN EXPIRED.
Then I asked him:" do you know what car I'm driving?"
CS: " yes it's a car with mileage less than 160k right?"
Me:" yes of course. Do you know what make is it?"

When I asked that it seems he's confused and only said :" well our company receive this 'number' notice telling us that your car warranty is being voided."

Me:" You know what, I'm gonna ask my dealer about this first."
CS:" okay sure no problem!"

Wtf is going on?is this a scam?
Do i need to call my dealer and ask what's going on here?

I never go to a delaer and complain about any issues before. The last time I came there was for retrofitting the oil cooler which is back in Feb 08..

Anyone can chime in please?

I smell BS, I doubt BMW is going to send you a "dear john" letter through 3rd-party telesales company...

They want to sell you a warranty, ignore them... Put your number on the do not call list to avoid that bs.

Dood... this is a scam for you to buy the third-party extended warranty.

I haven't gotten the one that says the warranty is being voided, but I've gotten the one that says that your warranty is almost over...

My mom, who doesn't even have a car, has gotten the call too!!!

I used to get tele-marketing calls for about 2 years (including this warranty one probably the most frequent of all) before I got fed up and signed the do-not-call list. I haven't gotten any marketing calls since. Shoulda done it earlier.

Edit: Oh yeah, I used to get the same warranty call only after I bought my BMW...hmm...

I never got that BS before but at one time I did the dealer automated service letting me know that my warranty is almost over. I had 35k on my car at the time.

By pressing interacting with the call you agreed (according to their legal theory) to be contacted again. This has emerged as a do-not-call workaround since automated calls are somehow generally allowed they use them as hooks to get you to consent to the call.

If you had any doubts that telemarketers are scum of the earth, stuff like this should disabuse you of them...

The most disconcerting thing is that BMW (or a close affiliate) sells your information to these whores in the first place.
