How to get an obnoxious deodorizer smell out of the car?

The car wash did a fantastic job doing up the car, but finished it off by spraying some obnoxious deodorizer stuff that smells like a cross between High Karate and fake tree spray >_<

I have the windows down now, but any tips or tricks you detailing gurus have to share to hasten the "detox" process?

Have you tried using vinegar? Put vinegar in a cup or bowl and let it sit in the car overnight.. should get rid of the odour...

You can try farting like a demon, but that's just masking :{

A bowl of harm&hammer left overnight in the car could help, but deodorizer is very strong :/

I think I'll try a one two combo with a bowl of vinegar and a bowl of baking soda.

UPDATE: Looks like they only sprayed the carpeted mats thank God.
I took him out of the car and replaced with my BMW all weather rubber mats- I've been meaning to do that for the winter time anyway.
Threw the "contaminated" carpeted mats on the porch in the sun.
Hopefully by the spring or summer they will be all aired out and free of that noxious odor

Will check that out too, but removing the carpeted mats seems to have done the trick for now- thanks to all!

take an apple, cut it in half

place one half on your rear seat and the other in the front. Leave the cut side facing up for a day or two

When we bought the Challenger the dealership decided it would be an awesome idea to coat the entire interior of the vehicle with disgusting Armor-All shit. Smelled absolutely terrible. Put a small can of coffee grounds on the dashboard and let it sit over the weekend -- smell was 90% gone. Meguiar's quick interior detail spray took care of the rest (as well as the nasty oily coating that that stuff leaves).

Why not sir?
It keeps my dakota coral red leather seats seasoned, although not nearly as well as my swamp ass in the summer when fresh out of the gym.

Great idea cmyk! Yea that Armor all shit is vile- they did that on mom's Civic during a detail. Smelled like play-doh and turpentine, not to mention making the steering wheel dangerously slippery...

As I said, the offending carpeted mats have been banished to the cold bin until spring. All weather rubbers are in and I'm golden!

That would have worked Sammy, but this 30 degree weather might make me into a Salsicle!

New car smell??

Isn't there a product that duplicates the 'New Car' smell??

I like the scent and my 11 year granddaughter absolutely loves it! But, it's beginning to dissipate.

Does it work???

I've never had any luck with these so-called "new car" scented deodorizers. The actual "new car" smell is mostly comprised of the scent of new leather and plastic parts from the factory. I have managed to keep my car smelling mostly new by keeping the interior clean and detailed for the most part. My interior smells like leather since I condition the seats periodically to keep them soft. My mom's 2006 Lexus still smells like "new car" because she never eats in it and keeps it ridiculously clean.

When I bought my car in 2011 I don't think the AC had been used very much (came from up North). The first time I turned it on I got a blast of New Car showroom smell
