My thoughts are that after 20 years of buying PPV fights...I should know better...

But I will buy it...Oscar wins easily....Manny is taking the biggest money fight out there...but he is fighting a much bigger fighter at Oscars best weight...

they both make millions that night...that is one of the problems with boxing...neither fighter has anything on the line...just millions to make with guaranteed money...

But..I am part of the herd too...they will get my $$$$ that night...

Big guy beating up on little guy.

I'll be pulling for Manny, but I can't see it. There is a huge size difference here and weight classes are there for a reason in boxing.

Im rooting for Manny, but it would be really hard for him to win IMO in terms of de la hoya's size and physical attributes.

The only reason I think Pac has even a remote chance is because DLH is clearly not the fighter he once was.

The size difference is ENORMOUS. Pacquiao has had ONE fight at lightweight (granted, he looked stellar at the weight). But De La Hoya has knocked out big junior middleweights and gone rounds with world class middleweights.

Pacquiao is a beast, but he can't defy physics. His style - full speed ahead - plays into the bigger, stronger De La Hoya's hands. It's not like he's going to try to use his speed to outbox Oscar. That just isn't Pac's style.

I'm thinking De La Hoya will make the PacMan eat jabs and left hooks like they were little dots all day. A knockout wouldn't shock me.

Having said that, I think Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of our time, and I WOULD like to see Pac win. Mostly because that would obviously bring Floyd Mayweather Jr out of retirement, and Mayweather/Pacquiao would be a scrap for the ages.

In order for Pac to win, imo it'll be crucial for him to not come in at more than 143, 144 or so, where he'd retain his speed advantage. Like a young Tyson, most of Manny's power is generated from speed.

One thing you can count on - Pacquiao will be in much better condition than Oscar. He always trains hard for big fights, and has endless stamina. De La Hoya, on the other hand, has never had great stamina - not even back in his days at lightweight. That could make a difference in the fight as well.

If you took the 135 lb De La Hoya from 1996 and pitted him up against the 135 lb Pacquiao from 2008, that would be a very, very interesting fight. Would've been nice to see the 135 lb Shane Mosley scrap with Pac at that weight, too.

edit: One more thing in Pacquiao's favor. Oscar HATES fighting southpaws.
