If you are looking for upgraded bulbs, I suggest you check with Daniel Stern:

Daniel Stern Lighting and Supply

This guy is pretty much an expert in any automotive lighting-related topic. He sells German-made upgrade bulbs which are whiter and brighter, but don't have the drastically shortened operating life of the crap sold in the US.

They will not be brighter, stock bulbs are the brightest. Google the kelvin color temp scale to see the realtionship between color and light output.

The lifespan should be no different.

Marvin, email Daniel Stern using the link on his webpage. Ask him your questions, he'll tell you everything you want to know.

(The upgraded bulbs he sold me for our E53 X5 were both brighter and whiter than factory, without a hint of blue.)

Yellow? Do you have HIDs? The stock HIDs is about 4500k I think and thats the brightest. As you go up it becomes "bluer" it looks cooler but light intensity will be lower.

Just google 6000 vs 4300 HID. You'll find plenty of comparision pics. You lose some light output stepping up to 6k, but if you want that bluish look, you'll get it.

Dont get the Philips 6k...for Philips go for 6700 from E92-Lighting or something (experience based on 6k).. I bought a pair of Philips 6k but had to return it cause it was barely any difference from stock.

In theory the higher K you go less output but I really don't see a difference between stock and 6000K. Now if you went with 8000K, would assume you would defn see a visibility difference in terms of output compared to stock.
