Friend says he will never buy bmw because of my 328i
Before I got my BMW my friend used to like the company now he says he will buy a luxury Japanese car. Mostly due to the fact that nothing comes standard on the cars. He says they cheap out on things like standard nav system, blue tooth, leather seats and hids.
I kinda agree that they need to step up the standard package. Also adding packages make the price soar. Also does a base 5 series come with much more tan base 3? |

Yes it does kind of suck. I picked up my 335 and found out it has basically nothing. Now I'm in the process of figuring out how I am going to solve my lack of Sirius and BT problems. Neither of which seem cheap any way you look at it.

I for one am a fan of a la carte. Yes options get expensive but I'd much rather have the choice of various options than forcing car companies forcing me to get a bunch of stuff that isn't important to me in a big expensive options package.

I agree with that but just because other companies are making it a standard doesn't mean BMW should also, I mean it would be nice but some of us just love our cars for what it is. People now a days are caught up with the hype of all this technology in cars so it makes them think they need it when they really don't.
I drive my car to drive, I don't live in it so I don't need all those packages and yes depending on the 5 series model it's almost basically the same as the 3 series. |

I don't see this as a bad thing, but you definitely have to do a good deal of research before you buy

Yea, buy used. My car had a $41k price tag in 2009. I got it for half after 4 years, and it was still in great condition. I'm a huge fan of sunroofs, and every car I've owned had a sunroof. Unfortunately with most cars today you have to order a package to get the sunroof. I hate option packages.

These things aren't standard on the A4 or C250 either. Nobody buys these cars for standard features, they buy them for the way they drive. I work at a luxury used car place and everyone that test drives the 3-series has purchased that over the competition. Even an old lady bought a 328i vert over the G37 vert because it "just felt better". See..it's not just our imaginations

^ This. I will never buy new cars. But I'll make sure it has some warranty on it.

Did you buy the car used? Are you under CPO or factory warranty? IF CPO then yeah, they won't do it.

The HIDs I don't understand, but the interior lights could be that most people still prefer "warm" lights rather than LEDs. I believe BMW sinks a lot of money into market research, and whatever they choose probably appeals to the most people. At the end of the day, it's all a numbers game. BMW knows it can charge a premium for its brand image, which is unfortunate The 328i could have been made by KIA, as long as it had the same exact quality and attributes, but cost less (due to not being able to charge for the logo), I would still buy it. If it's of any consolation, the E30 325is I owned last had an original sticker of $29k in 1989, which is over $54k today, and the quality, equipment, fit and finish are nowhere near as refined as our cars today. |

100% agreed. Before my 335i, I had 06 325i base model. It had nothing compared to my old lexus is250 (before 325i lol). 1 thing that really bothered me was the manual seats.....seriously?

I think it depends on what you want if your a tech guy go for all those cool option me personally I like car simple and I bought my car for it's performance not its cool options. I just drove a 328i f30 as a loaner car that car has full package it's pretty nice what they change on the interior and the tech.

Yea rock-bottom base model kind of blows, not what you'd think you'd get in a bmw. At the very least you need premium and sport package, which gives you exactly what it sounds like lol... makes it more sporty and fun but also more classy and luxurious with the leather and power-everything. If you live in a place with winters I'd say cold weather package is pretty necessary too - heated seats and steering save lives lol. But yea... it costs.
