Mike, yes i changed out two coil packs and my car is running like a champ again. i had the CEL removed at the shop. but i will most likely be changing the remaining four coil packs and putting in new spark plugs.

First thing I would look at is spark plugs, coils, then fuel injectors (also make sure to check fuel pressure is good).... common culprit is the fuel injectors on the 335i. There is a recall for them, you might have to push the dealer about it.

I changed all spark plugs and the coil in cylinder 3 which my Cobb computer said was misfiring and the car runs perfect now.

My '03 325xi w/manual tran. seems to have a similar problem and appreciate your knowledgeable advice. Car has 82k. Occasionally, but not daily, it shakes from start and doesn't stop shaking when warmed up, and at the same time the HVAC speed revs up and down but no heat. It may also rev the hvac and not heat at times it is not shaking. Seems to do it during cooler weather. CEL comes on at these times and then stays off when it's normal. Of course today I drove it all day and ran great! I have not yet had it plugged in. Thanks!
