[Fun w/N54]

OEM non sport suspension and would like to fill wheel gap with taller tire.

Need some input on tire options:

8.5 et29 front
9.5 et23 rear

245 40 18 square

235 40 18 front
265 35 18 rear

245 40 18 front
275 35 18 rear

Tires will either be Conti DWS 06 or Mich AS/3. Think the meater 245 Mich would fit 9.5 rear rim and not look too stretched?

Seems like the best compromise.

Was originally going to go 245 square as the xdrive is very sensitive. But since the wheels are 1" wider in back I would assume the rear would be shorter than fronts by some unknown factor.

Thinking I should check the tire mfg spec sheets to see what size rims were used for their published diameters. Sure I'm over analyzing this but rather be safe than sorry.

235/40/18 and 265/35/18 have the exact same rolling diameter difference as the OEM 225/40 and 255/35. In other words, they'll work perfect.

I have Michelin Pilot SS in 225F/255R configuration on my 219M wheels, because any larger they would rub in the rear, and this is with a pre-lci 2007 with an lci M-Sport conversion. They fit the same as my previous 235F/265/30R setup with Hankooks. You have an lci e92? If so, the rears would rub with Michelins at plus size, so please take that into consideration.

Here are pics of the 219Ms prior to lowering on Ground Control coilovers, with -2.2 negative camber in the rear and they still occasionally rub on dips:

Thanks for the info. These are for my girlfriend stock non-sport e90 LCI. Her car sits bit higher (x-drive) and no plans to drop it. WI roads were pushing me toward the 245/40/18 square direction.

245 was the only size to safely (per PSS spec sheet) run on both 8.5 and 9.5 wheels. Wanted something more than a 225 up front so going 235 in front would require 265 out back, which would rub with PSSs. She doesn't drive overly aggressive and would like some meaty tires for aggressive stance viewed from front and back. The offset of the 219s should give her the flush look from the side as well. Cautiously optimistic this will work.

Negative camber in the rear of -2.2 should be sufficient for the 219Ms on 245/40 square setup.

Consider 245/35 all around if wheels might be too tall.

i had
245 40 18 front
275 35 18 rear

too meaty lol my car was lowered and i rubbed pretty bad with 18X10 ET25

now i have 235 40 18 front
265 35 18 rear and still meaty but i dont rub anymore

my fronts right now with 18x9.5 235/40 et 33 are not stretched at all.

Should have little more to free space to work with than you did. And she drives alone majority of time.

Did it rub in front or just rear? You're x-drive too I see so share my concern with keeping the driveline happy.

I assume with the et23 rear offset the fender would contact the top of the tire if you are lowered. Based on what you recall even with tire being 30mm narrower in the rear you still would of rubbed?

Tonight I'll measure to the top of the rear fender and see how much uncompressed room there is to work with.

front didnt rub at all.

hmm if you're stock suspension you might be able to pull 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 w/o rubbing

also depends what tire brand sometimes some brands are wider than the others

this is with 265 rears 18X10 ET25 just a slight drop with coilovers

with rolled fenders.

no rubbing...

if i lower it more i would start rubbing.
