Cic controller back lights
Hi,
Recently got a 330d with cic idrive. Hopefully it's something simple but the idrive controller isn't illuminating at night, all the buttons I'm sure are backlit red but mine doesn't light at all, works as it should apart from this. Is it possible to turn these off or Is it the bulb/leds have gone? I've googled the problem but can't find a single thread that just mentions backlights only controller not working. Thanks |

I haven’t seen any settings to turn it off in the I-Drive,
Stupid question but you never know, are your headlights on? I looked at mine last night and saw when the lights were off there was no back lighting. Just worth a quick check... |

Should be lit up whenever the lights are on.
It's the light inside unfortunately unless you lift the centre console panel and check the wiring. Pretty sure its just the bulb blown if the controller itself is working. That would mean a replacement though.

Normally pressing the knob or any action that requires CIC display turns the backlight back on. It may be that your backlight controller is shot. Try shining a flashlight at an angle on the display to see if is still working but the backlight is out. You could also have a problem with the backlight connector or voltage regulator. Normally the latter is what goes out the most on LCD displays. |

Hi opjose, it's the actual controller near the handbrake that doesn't light up mate, the screen is fine, the controller works fine it just the buttons don't light up mate, thanks for the reply though.
Thanks dean |

I believe that and the idrive controller are hooked to the same 12v source. |

Treated myself to a foxwell nt510 and scanned and I'm getting A2CD/present CON control unit under voltage, and bmw part number 9189048 which on realoem is the cic controller, I assume that's the reason I have no lights on the unit.
Does anyone know if this points towards a faulty cic controller or a voltage issue to the controller? I've tried to search for the error code which I think is the A2CD part but can find nothing Thanks |
