Huh? You have an entire lap, and however long you want to take on the green flag lap.

In order for pad deposit to occur, the pads need to be hot enough to transfer the material to the rotor.
It can happen when one decides to drive like a hooligan on the street and go very fast, and stop, post driving normally.
There's tons of threads about this on BF.C.. My wheel is shaking with my PFC race pads. How did you bed them? On the street. What did you do, well i drove around for a week and I slammed on the brakes at 130 mph 3 times then drove around some more. The pad looks like it's chunking... I wonder why.

So every single time i've driven my car in the last 2 weeks i've been out of range for those pads, especially in the morning during my commute or after class. Except maybe one time last week when I saw a cop on i-10 on my way back home when I was flying, might've dabbled into their engineered range where they are designed to work that time..

You said it...

You are right, it won't be 'heated up' on the street or at the beginning of the caution lap.

Through all of this fallacy, I think Jay has sufficient information to make his own decision at this point. However, I strongly urge you to look up some of the information yourself rather than going by what two people have to say. I think the operating temperatures speak for themselves though. The pad deposit thing isn't too hard to figure out either, just search and find out how it actually works; unless you already know, of course.

All I have to say is that the z-rated pads are terrible on the street. I had them for 2-3 weeks and got rid of them. At cold temperatures the brake pedal would sometimes go to the floor. You have to heat them up for them to work, which doesn't really happen if you are using them for dd purposes (unless of course you slam on the brakes a few times for that purpose). I'm not sure about track use because I haven't been on the track with the z-rated. I have no experience with the Hawk pads.

The way I usually do it is take the car on a secluded part of river road and hit 60 mph and slam on the brakes to a complete stop about 3-5 times. I believe that is the proper method; its worked for me every time.

This ^. The higher the operating temp, the faster you need to go to do it though.

Performance friction z-rated have worked fine on my 335i, but maybe thats because its heavier than your car and the brakes heat up faster.

The decision was influenced by the fact that HT-10s aren't made for Front brakes for the TTS, but Pagid RS-19s are. Thanks for the spirited discussion. I learned a lot following it.

Most of my research pointed to the RS-19s...now I need to start saving for some slotted rotors. I read a great quote: "How do you make a million dollars racing? Start with two million." Know any company foolish...I mean forward thinking enough to sponsor an HPDE driver?

I'm sure those will work very nicely for you. It's possible to get sponsored by a company just doing HPDEs, but it probably wont be anything that saves you very much money. If you want to get any kind of sponsorship doing DEs, you either need to be very popular among some car community, have a lot of online followers, or have a car that really stands out (not OEM).

I'm going to miss this one, but make an appearance in January at the next NASA event with some new go-fast parts.

Tim and Stu (or any E90/92/93 owners) I have a carbon fiber rep GTS-V rear diffuser. I would really like to test fit it on one of your cars if possible. I bought it for mine, and it doesn't fit. And I think its just b/c i have a custom bumper. If it fits your cars I'd be more then willing to sale it to you for a REALLY GOOD deal. Let me know

Did you buy it for an E92? Bumper is different from an E90. But if you just want to do a test fit you could do it on mine (if it'll fit on an E90). Gonna be busy for the beginning of December though but might could find some time.

PCA day one: Every time I have an instructor ride right seat, I'm told a different line...which has the benefit of taking me out of my comfort zone...shaved another two seconds off today: 2:05 in my last session. Tomorrow morning can't come soon enough. [Insert kid in candy store reference.]

Also, I LOVE rear sway bars...consistent, controllable rotation, and no more oversteer (except for Turn 4, because it's made of evil).

Awesome, I'm sure you're having a great time. Do you mean understeer? A rear bar should increase oversteer (rear end coming out). I can't wait for January.

I did indeed.

The RSB and some new lines took 4 seconds off my best lap...down to 2:05:25.

It won't work for the reg 335 bumpers.

Yeah I did order it for the e92. I didn't know how much different they were. B/c all the other guys that bought it from the same seller fits really good. So I wanted to see if it was my rears bumper or the diffuser.

Gotcha. The E90 has a different rear bumper than the E92 so I wouldn't be of much help.
