Not really, i hate the 1366x768 screen on my 15" laptop and would love to have a 1920x1080 one or at least 1600x900.

would the upgrade make better sense on a 17.3" monitor or even then the regular is fine? thx so much for the help guys.

Not sure if anyone directly addressed your question yet.

CPU: No, stay with i5. The benefit of a i7 wouldn't be noticed with gaming.

GPU: Yes, get the larger video ram. Unless your monitor size is smaller than 14".

Ram: If they are the same price, go for the DDR3 1600.


To everyone else, computer technology is ahead of gaming at the moment. Meaning that most games are not system breakers or new-build pushers. Hence, laptop primary gaming machines are becoming more viable. But just to be fair, you can currently build a near top of the line system for around $1300. Not counting a display, which vary greatly depending on if you use a TN or IPS panel. (24": $200-$800)
