some general advice
hi not a regular hear but often have a look around for advice. Have an e91 320d, 57plate Efficient D. 85,000 miles.
Never had a problem, bought about 1.5 years ago. Was an old reps car so fully serviced. Questions: Is there anything I should be looking at having done (before it went wrong) noticed some people talk about the clutch at 75,000 miles? Now out of warranty and BMW oil service just cost £250. Are there any tips on getting the price down as this seemed a lot? Think the oil on its own was about £120. Should i maintain a full main dealer service or look at servicing stop or alike from now in? Should i sell it and upgrade!?! Mate told me if i was going to sell it do it before i get 100k on the clock. What about having the engine remapped? Is it worth it? ANyway hope someone can offer a little help ta ds1980 |

Hi
just some advice for the oil change, i recently bought oil in for my service and the cost was 90 , then added the combi filter total was 130 included vat oil come of 50 pounds for 8 litre from opie oils with discount code. they stamp my service book no problem, if there is a case arises with the oil change i can state a point that ''whats the different in oil when i buy my own and using your oil when its the same brand and the same oil??'' they would have no point to argue back or decline a warranty claim. as for other general advice would be yes i agree that selling the car and upgrading it before 100k would be a great idea because in general a car is valued by its millage and year so its worth less the more miles it has done. if you are in the finical position to make this change then why not buy a new toy to play with? if you want to bring overall service cost down then you can look at a indy garage( independent bmw specialist)sicne your out or warranty now i doubt u can win a case for any warranty work unless its premature failure and you HAVE go through alot to claim from bmw .a well cared for car + a non aggressive driving style can lead a car to a longer life, for example my mum's old Nissan drove to 120k with just minor wear and tear problems so we sold it back in 2003 and recently i saw that car being driving in my local town after so many years lol, about the remap i cant help you as i never did one before but if you think about the worn on the engine , think about can it cope with the extra strain? hope this helps |
