Let me ISTA that for you

Just got my hands on the ISTA which is the latest factory service manual for BMWs. Got it off MHHauto which was a pain in the ass. Terrible instructions and had to get my friend to download it for me with his seedbox (had to try a few links and each version was 70+gb compressed). My virtualmachine is 138GB after installing everything

I have not got the diagnostics or coding working, it doesn't seem to play nice with my K+DCAN cale and probably requires a proper ICOM cable to work properly. So for now, I will stick to INPA and NCSExpert for those.

But the ISTA service manual works great! So if you need to know the BMW factory instructions I can search it for you. Includes instructions and jointing torques + angles. Just post your procedure/torques/service bulletins etc and I will try and find it for you. My version seems to cover all model up until 2015. If you happen to have a BMW i8 and want repair instructions I can actually find it for you!

Please keep requests in the thread and not in PM so everyone can benefit.
I'll kick off the thread:

Q: I need to fix my N54 wastegate rattle! How do I adjust the wastegate valves properly?

A: See attached. They are adjusted based on the 'turnability' of the wastegate valve. These require the downpipes to be dropped. Make sure you have replaced ALL your vacuum lines and are 100% sure your solenoids are working correctly before resorting to this procedure!

Requests from Australian forumers only please!

To use your k+Dcan cable with your vm you need to have a virtual icom emulator added to your vm.

Yeah I've got the emulator running. Tried it, takes ages to read the VIN from the car (does read it so its communicating) then fails to read the vehicle order. It's not a big deal since I already have a working programming setup anyway.

Looks like theres no article specifically for BOV removal

Attached are the instructions for the turbo and engine support removal

Since the BOV uses M6 bolts (confirmed on realoem), they would also use torque of 7Nm based on all the other M6 bolts on the turbo.

It came from a torrent that isn't seeded most of the time. Only reason I got it is that my friend was able to download it quickly when a seeder was online. No way would I be able to upload this stuff on a normal net connection.

If you bring a hard drive you can get it off me in person. Need around 140GB for the virtual machine.

Will take me a while to work through the list. Have to go through all the hyperlinks and find the prereq tasks and all the torques are hyperlinked. Then have to print them out as pdf

For now:

1. Replace turbos

No instructions exist for rebuilding the diff. Can only do drive flange seals and pinion seal.
