Does BMW print the VIN on the block anywhere? If so, where can I find it?

Won't that be the Engine Serial Number rather than the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)?

I'm not aware of a vehicle's VIN normally being placed anywhere on an engine - after all, it's the unique number for the vehicle and is really tied in to the vehicle's chassis, whereas the engine could be swapped for a different one.

All the e90 engines have an engine serial number stamped on the block, under the intake manifold. The same number also appears on a sticker on the head, between the VANOS solenoids on the front. Someone with dealer access can lookup the engine serial number for your VIN.
I think you can see the serial number sticker on the front of the head without needing to remove any covers or parts.

There is white sticker on block, right side, by the very end, on the edge where the fly wheel is. It gives you the vin and the chassis number, like whether is e90, e60 and etc.

There are no VIN numbers anywhere on the n54 aside from a sticker right before the transmission. Be careful not to rub the sticker since it turns out the numbers come off pretty easily, I learned that the hard way.

The white sticker doesn't have the VIN. I bought an eBay motor based on a check of the VIN provided by the seller, but when I received it there were NO way I found to match the engine to the VIN. I ended up accepting their word as the casting dates of both the block and head we're within a week-ish of the production date of the car based on the VIN.
I'm attaching a pic of the sticker ...
