FS: 2003 AP1 S2000, Sebring Silver/Red, 24,000 miles, original owner...

Ive had it happen to myself (almost twice). First time was when I was getting my first E36 328. Dealer told me my Grand Cherokee was worth at trade in "at least 11 or 12K" BAD idea to take their word. My car comes in, and suddenly they are offering my 8500.

Going to replace the 328 with a 330. Dealer attempts to do the same thing, claiming they cant appraise my car until the 330 comes in. (therefore backing me into corner because I would have no time to sell it) I planned ahead and sold the car privately.

Specialque went through the same crap with his S2K-to-335 thing to. Dealer lowballed him on trade-in. He held his ground and they reached a compromise.

Most of these dealers know they can offer you a lowball figure and you will take it. You have no time to go and sell your car privately, and you REALLY want that new BMW sitting there that you have beening pining over for the past 4 months.

Car dealers suck on trade ins. Sell the car on autotrader or Ebay. I sold my S2003 Ap1 with 67k miles for 16k on Ebay. People were contacting me like crazy. You shouldn't have any problems. Dont let the dealership lowball you. Stand firm!

Yes, dealerships do suck.

I ended up being a hard ass and got 18,500 on the trade-in plus I saved 500 in tax so I got 19k for it, which isn't too bad since I had it on ebay and autotrader for 20k with a bunch of lowballs. Good news is that I finally got my 335 yesterday! :rocks:

Not too bad at all. You've just gotten a great car, but you WILL miss the S2000.

Nice boosted! yeah the sales tax "break" helps with tradein. I think 1K off from what you were asking is worth the convenience of a trade-in.

Yes, I do miss the s2k a little bit, but i'm also loving the new car. Its nice to have some torque again.

Now all I need is a procede and an exhaust to start things off.
