My owners manual states spark plug replacement at 40k miles and that what the car tells me on my iDrive services screen.

I'm tempted to take my plugs out and check, but then I'll have to buy the tool.

are spark plugs covered under the BMW warranty / maintenence program?

If not, how much are they typically?
