Intake Air Temp for DCI and Ram Air

Seems like there's always a lot of talk about DCI's and whether they're any good because they probably suck in hot air from the engine bay. Has anyone actually taken some temp measurements using the ecu's IAT? What about putting a simple thermistor probe from an outdoor thermometer next to the cones and monitoring that temp vs. the stock air box? It would be interesting to do something like this before and after adding air scoops. I'm just curious if anybody has tried to get some good data on the subject.
