The 335iS is looking more and more tempting. Especially considering the sticker price on one is almost the same as mine and I didn't get the sports package. Also I thought DCT would be an expensive option but it looks like DCT will be about $1,500 option.
I'm seriously considering this, your thoughts?

Perhaps, but living in the northeast, it's probably a necessity.

I love 6MT. but I think times are changing and DCT and other dual clutch variants from other manufacturers is the future, I love how the SMG III performs in the m5/m6's and I think one of the main reasons for the upgrade would be to keep the potency of the n54 but be able to mate it to a faster and more consistent transmission. That plus the fact that for about 52k u get all of the LCI updates and the bmw performance package.
I'm jealous of the 07 guy's who's leases are coming due right now! it'll be harder for me since my lease is till june 2011.

i do not believe AWD is a necessity in a sport sedan, as you are really limited by ground clearance more than anything in any type of substantial snow. i mount snow tires for the winter season and can not believe how well behaved this car is in the snow. and it is still so much fun to toss around with the DTC off for the few times a year where AWD would be beneficial is not worth to me the added weight, additional drive train loss and associated lessened fuel mileage. but to each their own! |

no 6 speed , so no way. Besides my car has the same body basically because I have M sport and I have the BMW Performance Package and exhaust, so its practically the same car .

Some food for thought -
The n55 and n54 both share the same block. so if the aftermarket really took off on the n55 and left the n54 behind, you would be a head swap away from being able to take advantage of those.

If you drove to Vermont every weekend (and whenever there is a snow storm mid-week) and had to drive up the various ice/snow covered steep hills we have to.. you'd have a much different opinion. A couple RWD folks (with good tires) came to our house once and had to get towed out of the driveway. It was pretty funny.

335is is not worth it if you ask me. Its the same old e9x platform, with a bit more power added which is already available in the Power Kit from BMW. If you own your 335i just wait for the next generation 3-series which will hopefully have a 360hp-380hp twin-turbo available, since the new M3 will surely get close to the 450hp so that kind of engine would not be a threat.
