Plastidipped Window Trim :)
Well I finally made the move since everyone on this forum kept telling me to black out my chrome trim so I went the cheap route for now just to see how it would look on my car. Also this is my first time working with plastidip and bare with my masking tape skills since I didn't feel like doing a perfect job on it.
But here's some before and after pictures. Prepping my car, say bye bye to the chrome trim for now After four coats of plastidip Final result, it came out pretty nice and was easy to work with. In the end, i'm happy and I can take it off whenever I want. Last edited by Delusive; 11-15-2012 at 06:33 PM.. |

Looks immensely better. I'm always fine with plasti-dip if it's being used for blacking out trim or grills.

Yep, I had lots of overspray but it's all gone now since I wiped it off with some goo gone and I didn't have no problems peeling the bottom because Grant@JGMODS came by and before I peeled it off he told me to get a razor blade and shove it under the trim so that I won't have to worry about it coming off the trim.

Looks good!
In case you're wondering how plasti dip holds up in the elements, my car was pelted with grapefruit sized hail in June -- the trim itself was bent and destroyed but the plasti dip still looked brand new. Not a single piece missing, cracked or peeled. LOL

Yeah just make sure your razor is really sharp then slide the razor blade in between the rubber gasket and trim. This is only necessary for the trim on the door since the rest comes off easily with no worries.
Hahaha, well at least it's good to know this holds up even after some heavy abuse. |
