Yeah, I know it's ok, staggered or not, but the one post seemed to suggest something contrary to what is usually thrown about - he was saying that it is better to have staggered wheels with the xi.

Staggered setup does not necessarily mean the diameter of tire between front and back is significantly different. The profile of the tires are different but the rolling diameter seems pretty much the same front to back.

For example: 225/40ZR18 diameter is 25.1" while the back size 255/35ZR18 diameter is 25". Specs from Tirerack.

Lassaxia and nick narazeno ... good stuff, thanks for sharing.

Do you know anything about MB's 4matic sytems (wrt heat tolerances etc)? Curious...

Need more info - profile of tire, diameter of wheel, etc.

Plug the info into the tire calculator at the top of the Tire/Wheel subforum.

No first hand experience with AWD MB, sorry.

this MB shop's website is suggesting +/- 3% max allowable deviation from the stock overall tire diameter, but I have no idea where that spec came from, and whether 4matic calls for a tighter spec

Somebody help me please. I have the same problem! DTC tripping all the time since the purchase of a set 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear rims. The 8.5 fronts are running 225/45 and the rears are 245/45 someone please help me either match my rear tires to the existing fronts or recommend correct fitment for rolling diameters to be matching on my new rims! Much appreciated!

I'm a asking because the WIDTH of my rims differentiates from stock stagger. The stocks are 7.5 front going up to a 8.5 on new and rear from 8 to 9.5. How can OEM fitment still be applicable? Am I that big of a noob or have a I hit a loophole?

That is the size I am running.
So use the tire size I posted above.
