Do E92's have Driver side seat occupancy sensors?
I would assume no considering there ALWAYS has to be someone in the driver's seat, but I am trying to figure out the dreaded seatbelt/ airbag lights on my dash. Thanks.

No the drivers seat does not have a sensor. Only the passenger seat does. I've installed heating elements into my seats so I'd know...

Obviously there needs to be a driver if the car is moving. A passenger is not required at all times for vehicle operation so that's why there is a sensor.
Scan your car to pull the airbag codes. I have a feeling you unplugged one of the airbag sensors while the battery was connected....this trips the airbag light and needs to be reset with a scan tool. There are sensors in the buckles though. There were known to go bad on e36s. |

Completely agree.. I did this with both seats at first an then turned the driver one back on for my safety.. That and cops around here are notorious for giving tickets so...

Because the car senses when the belt is buckled on the driver's side (and on the passenger side too). On the passenger's side the car needs to know if there is an occupant in the seat as to whether to deploy the air bag or not in an accident. Also, the SRS system needs to know if the driver is belted or not as it changes the severity of the driver's side steering wheel airbag if the belt is not fastened.
