BMW Performance Exhaust Opinions

Hi Guys,

have a mate who has a 335i and is currently researching into an exhaust mod

if possible anyone who is running a BMW performance system on their 335i's could you please provide any insight/information on what you thought about it, how it sounds - are you happy with it?? etc

any info provided will be great!

thanks guys!

Search his previous posts as he made a video of the exhaust on car.

No doubt there will be loads on YouTube too.

I have the performance exhaust and I love it.
It is easy the best money I've spent cost/enjoyment ratio wise. Along with JB4 of course.

The sound has improved now I have sealed up the joints properly.

Try and listen to a sound clip of it being driven, rather than just being revved.

do it. don't look back (you probably never will). I know I haven't.

YouTube vids are definitely underrated, since the bulk of the excitement comes from driving around with the thing.

np sir! I'm more than pleased with the system. The funny thing is that for my 335i, the PE looks almost identical to the stock exhaust. The main differences are the replacement of the mid pipe resonator with cross pipes and subtle bending in the pipes. Drone is non-existent, and is generally tame at low revs. When you exceed 3k RPMs, the car turns into a screaming beast. If you have MT, it works out even better since you have more control of downshifts, which emits all these pops and burbles (and imo is the best part of the system). Also, I have the peace of mind that it's built to OEM specs.

exactly i know what you mean dude! having OEM things fitted is always a bonus and knowing that their performance parts are worth having is even better!

im give my mate the heads up and show him the threads! i am sure il be able to persuade him to go for it

Sadly no. It's a 330i for one thing. Great sound though...

I have a cab so this might mean I get to hear it a lot more but I am constantly surprised at just how loud and fruity the standard exhaust is on the 335i. It's the only car I've owned where I haven't thought, "hmm I need to change the exhaust as it's not loud enough" and I have owned some pretty loud modified cars. How much difference does the PE actually make. Just my opinion but at over a grand for the PE, I'd definitely spend that money on other bits of the car before thinking about the exhaust.

I find the standard exhaust to be a bit quiet..(comparing it to the oem exhaust system on my TTS where the latter has got quads!...much more lovely sound...)..PE should improve the sound nicely!...quite pricey tho...

its worth every penny! its not a case of how loud but how it sounds.

Is yours an N55 or N54? I have the Milltek exhaust and love it. If not for epic sound it gives, it makes the rear end look so much cooler!

It's an N54 but it is a cab. Admittedly with the roof up it is a little quieter but with the roof down it sounds almost obscenely loud (perhaps I am just getting old )

It also burbles and pops at low revs, hmm hearing people say the standard exhaust is quiet has got me thinking now, perhaps it's been changed for something else and I haven't noticed!

My exhaust burbles & pops at low revs too, it is standard (AFAIK, tail pipes look standard anyway) and it's certainly not quiet!
