Happens all the time when water gets on the rotors and the car isn't being used. pretty normal

Argh... never noticed that. I was just driving yesterday
Maybe the change in weather in NJ here with the 50 degree monsoon... It should come off when I start driving right? It's not harmful is it? Came across this: http://www.ehow.com/how_5579979_stop...otor-rust.html Looks like option 4 is the way to go. I am sure the dealer won't do jackshit for me Might be a good excuse to get a brembo big brake kit in the spring Last edited by Dark_Knight_335; 12-12-2010 at 05:11 PM.. |

no need to take to the dealer or get a bbk... after a couple good hard brakes all the rust will be shaved off.
this is not nearly a problem and if you took it to the dealer they would probably laugh at you. take a trip to a used car lot and look at the cars that have been sitting there for a while. most all will have this. |

I guess I really never noticed this before. Now I'm going to be noticing rotors on every car I walk past on the street! I see you're in Hawaii. What is the climate like there? I'm imagining saltwater air and humidity. Does your car's finish take any more of a beating than normal? |

Brake rotors are bare metal after all, get them wet and they develop a little oxidation. Completely normal.

cars do take some beating from the whether. if you have bare metal things rust and oxidize pretty fast. nice cars with good paint coats dont really take that much. my moms wagon held up for a good 8 years with no rust. however, little rust spots did start to develop under the paint after that.
