Dual Exhaust Conversion: Teaser

After waiting 4 months for my diffuser and finally getting all the other parts together and painted, the car is just about finished with the biggest project I've ever been a part of.

I originally loved the asymmetry with the 328 and it's single side exhaust. But when the performance diffusers came out, I absolutely loved the CF versions. Those weren't available for 328 coupes/convertibles and I began to love the look of fat 4 inch dual exhaust tips with the diffuser, so I knew that's the way I wanted to go.

Anyway, I picked up the car today after three days at the body shop getting painted and installed. They hacked off my muffler to make the dual diffuser work. The JGMODS rep bumper fit beautifully, the paint is perfect, and the diffuser lines up seamlessly.

So right now I'm running around with the muffler chopped off. Sound is surprisingly awesome except for at 1.5k rpm under load, there is a really bad tinny sound like a quarter rattling loudly in the rear seats. Not sure if there actually is some loose change rattling around anywhere or not lol.

My plan is to get a magnaflow muffler and 2nd cat delete. That all is scheduled for Tuesday. Cyba 4 inch tips are all good to go. I'll update once the exhaust is finished.

Here are some iPhone pics of the car currently.

Thanks,

I can't believe I forgot to mention in the OP. I ordered it from LTMW, it's the duke dynamics performance style 335 diffuser in carbon fiber. The DD logo is now on the lower right side, not visible unless you are under the car. It used to be right in the middle near where the bumper and diffuser meet.

weird how the difference is determined by single or dual exhaust, aesthetically. the mercedes 300 and 350 are both dual and i mix them up sometimes haha.

Am I the only one that had "cream on the inside, clean on the outside" pop into their head when they saw the top down pic?

Yes they are, and to be honest I'm a bit underwhelmed by their finish. It certainly isn't black chrome like my kidney grilles. And it really isn't a gloss black either, its more of a satin black.

That sounds like what I'm looking for though I do like the dry carbon one too. Do you have another picture of it?

Clean conversion by the way! Space gray ftw.

When the carbon tips came out I almost bought them, but I'm glad I waited. I think that with a CF diffuser, the weaves are a bit different and the tips are matte while the diffuser is gloss. And IMO the regular tips have that "sharper" look to them, and I like the tapered design on the outer edge which is why I went with the black chrome instead.

I'll try to get some more pics of them. And thanks a lot! I was really impressed with the body shops work.

Here's some pics when I first got them. I'll take more when they're mounted.
