Well i took my cdv out tonight, wow what a difference. Its such a nice feeling tranny now. I peeled out from first to second and second to third, never done that before (with DTC completely off). Its hard to describe, but the shifts are much crisper and quicker. Well worth the hassle below.

Of course my pressure bleeder that I ordered from Bav Auto didnt work, it leaked all over the place. So I bled it the old fashion way, under the car while someone pressed the clutch. Now my question is as follows. This is exactly what I did : I had someone press the clutch 5 to 6 times to push the air into the bleed valve, then push it all the way down to the floor and hold it. I would then loosen the bleed valve, and the fluid would spurt out then just trickle out. I did this about 3 times. The first time the pedal would not come up, the second two times, it came up on its own. Does this mean it was done right?

Opening the bleed valve is very very hard, its at such an akward angle and you barely have any room to work with.

I dont remember how the brake pedal felt before, but It sort of feels weird, but the clutch engages just perfect. Could it be just my imagination, or would you definately know something is not right if the clutch/brakes where not bled properly.

EvanL, in your DIY, you say to have someone press the clutch down while you open the bleeder, then close the bleeder before they get down to the bottom. Whats the difference between the way you say to do it, and the way I did it. I went off what was said here in this DIY.

http://www.my330i.com/mod27.php

I also crimped the line as indicated in this DIY. No dripping mess anywhere.

Hey guys, I just want to clarify, the pressure bleeder did not work, because there was a seal which fell out and was in the box. Once I put that in, it worked fine. Maybe I will use it next time

Day two of CDV Less shifting, its like a whole new transmission. Its so freaking nice now. Any of you guys on the wire, just do it, you wont regret it.

I am in DC and interested in the CDV mod too. Anyone or shop who has done that before?

Not that I'm about to do a CDV replacement, even though I have the modded valve, where is the master cylinder reservoir in case you need to add hydraulic fliuid? I can see the power steering fill, the oil fill and the windshield washer fill, but don't have a clue where the master cylinder is?

The brake and clutch share the same fluid, so you fill the brake fluid resevoir, which is on the right rear side of the engine bay, if you your standing directly in front of the car, its under a plastic cover by the windshield. I think this what you are asking about. The brake master cylinder sits right below the resevoir.

I did the mod, and its *great*!!!

A friend with a 328xi said "I don't think I know how to drive a manual anymore, it seems.

Drove 5 seconds in my car, and then said "I gotta get this done!".

do it.

Let me know when you're ready to do yours.....I already have the modified CDV but holding off on replacing it until I can't take the vagueness in the clutch anymore.

so you all are saying the CDV protects form "noob" driving...

I have about 6 years of manual experience under my belt... so I know how to drive a stickshift... but when I launched with my G35, I would drop it around 3.5krpm... I assume if I did the same thing in a 335i w/ CDV removed, it would be bad for the transmission?

am I still classified under n00b status (ie. I should keep m CDV in? haha)?

I ordered the $2.99 fluid from Bav Auto. Just get any DOT4 rated fluid.

Did this over the weekend.... by far worth the 10 minute DIY.

Also just a note, I crimped the line and zero amount of Fluid came out and I did not have to bleed the clutch at all. It felt exactly how it did before so that saved me some time on the job.

car feels good, shifts normal!

Nice, I crimped my line too, but just to be safe I bled mine as well.

Not sure if I did it right, but everything works fine. BRakes feel the same as before.

Best 10 minute DIY you can do.

Cheluto, it would take literally 10 minutes to put back on.
You crimp the line, pull the clip out holding the clutch line in place, slide the old valve back on and put the two clips back on. Done. The time consuming part is removing the 8 bolts that hold the cover in place.
