I'd follow the "For you to know and them to find out" policy attitude on something like that afterall it looks factory, just didn't leave the factory that way

I have used warranty direct. I found them very easy to deal with, and they always paid out. I got the warranty because I was concerned about my DSG gearbox failing, that part never went wrong, but lots of other engine parts did!

For the BMW Insured Warranty backed by Mondial, your car does not have to be serviced by a main dealer (as long as its VAT registered garage and using OEM parts and BMW spec fluids), but any warranty work has to be done by them.

Mate if its a new car 3 year warranty, or the AUC one then you're right. If its extended then you HAVE to use BMW dealer for service.

I'll try and get a reference on this later on

OK Just read my T's & C's...

What must I do to keep the Warranty valid?

1. a) Care of the Vehicle - You must keep Your Vehicle in an efficient and
road worthy condition and regularly service it in accordance with the
Manufacturer’s recommendations and genuine parts, or parts of equivalent
specification must be used.
b) After each service, please ensure that the relevant service details are completed in your service records by the servicing garage and obtain a receipt for the service. You must keep all such receipts for reference in the event of a claim.

It doesn't specifically say it needs to go to a BMW service centre so it sounds like you can take it to another garage.. at least for the general maintenance/servicing to keep the cover valid...

Manish,

I assume you're currently within a 3 year New car warranty or AUC warranty?

The servicing at BMW dealers only apply to extended warranties. New car warranties or an AUC one are fine to service at indys.

My car is a 2006 335i which I purchased second hand June 2013 and it came with a free one year Warranty Wise policy. That ended June this year so I purchased the Monthly BMW warranty form https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/ so not sure but the t's and c's read as above... hopefully that means that I can take it to an indy for servicing.

Garage List
Read the small print!

I believe it states that they have the right to provide their own parts which may be reconditioned or not genuine BMW parts!

They have the right to disagree with the proposed cost of repair as identified with the repairer and use there own preferred repairer!

I decide to keep with BMW warranty.

Interesting Replies guys and thanks.

I have quotes from WD and BMW

WD = £900 for 2 years, paid in 4 quarterly installments of £225 (Top Cover)

BMW = £448 per year (Max 100,000 miles). £42 monthly payments. This is for comprehensive cover. Will not cover retrofit CIC, Phone, Sat and In car entertainment as i altered the original spec of the car. They will only cover the components of the car as it left the factory in 2006.

Interesting decision. Car only has 23k on the clock??

From my personal experience if you actually want to be paid out when something breaks go with BMW (long as its not a carbon clean lol)

I really don't trust third party insurance any more and will never ever use one!
