Have you considered the A6, the latest model in S Line trim looks pretty decent. There are two versions of the 3.0 engine, the lower powered one has just over 200bhp and only front wheel drive. Offers economy on a par with the 2.0 diesel manual version but with a bit of 6 pot refinement.

Great value as well, I bought one last year for a driver in our Company, 3 months old with loads of options, cost 41k new, ours for £27,750 with 7k miles.

mob i'm not sure if this is of any use but i thought i would post anyway

I went to get a service plan for my XFR today. The amount for a 3 year plan means i pay £232 a year.

I personally thought this was very decent. It obviously includes 1 minor service and 2 bigger services. Compare this to my BMW 335d where i paid £190 a year.

Keep in mind that the BMW has longer service intervals but what i paid averages to the yearly figure above. I also think i got pretty decent prices on the BMW servicing as i rang around and got them to price match.

So the XFR is about 20% more expensive to service than my 335d. I personally think thats a great deal. 1 more thing to keep in mind, my service plan also includes free MOT's built into their cost but i haven't added the MOT charge to my BMW figure... but i paid £25 a year mates rates on that.

Thanks for all the advice, its all been really helpful. I haven't had a chance to visit a Jag dealer yet but will do so soon. Also, the actual purchase may have to wait until i come back from my holiday

Dave_3 - I had a F30 320D loaner a few days ago, i know what you mean about it being clattery, i felt the same.

Thats quite a bit of torque! Seems like impressive figures, but the driver isn't really a merc man. But i will suggest it

I recently had my 335i (e90) stolen from outside my house, after getting the insurance paid out I decided on an f10 520d M sport.

It’s a totally different drive than the 3’er but I had had enough of 20-21 MPG.
I will at some stage try and do a palmnut esc review of the car, but for now I can say that I am really pleased with the car. Its imperial blue, oyster/black leather and 19’ rims 61 plate (Dec) with 9K on the clock. Got it on a pcp, 3K down and monthly’s of £400 which is where I have been for the last 5 years.

I personally think it’s a real looker for such a big car.

Most of my driving is around town and I am genuinely getting 40 MPG. The car is not slow, put your foot down and it will pull, admittedly when idling it does sound like an old taxi but get going and it smooth’s out quite nicely.
I agree with Xenon, pro naff is a must.

Finally had some time to visit a Jag dealership and saw a XF.

Looks very nice, the interior is lush and the seats are very comfortable. I'm going to reserve judgement of the decision as i'm going away soon, so will arrange a day with the XF to myself when i get back.

Some plus points i found out. Unlimited mileage warranty, free servicing for 3 years, 4.9% interest.

The Jag looks really nice. Spec wise would probably have to go with premium luxury, and maybe add the aero package. And maybe the "Black Pack".

But like i said, going to have to wait until i get back and actually drive the car.
