Done this to my E90 (UK) today, With the door open After about 5seconds the footwell lights die out and then no longer power the front lights. I then start the car and they work and then die out after another 5-10seconds. They only start working once i start the car again. With the doors closed i turn off the car get out close the door n lock the car. They die out quicker than usual and then dont come back on, i then have to start the car for it to work again.. Any ideas?

Well i got these diodes..
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT I thought it might of been the diodes so i evan took them out and still no luck. I DO NOT have angel eyes, could that be the problem? when i disconnect it from the headlights the inside lights work like normal again. And yes the behaviour is consistent. |

I only wired a positive from the footwell lights and wired it to the high beams on the car as high beams and normal are the same bulbs. Last edited by INeedHelp1234; 07-10-2010 at 06:33 AM.. |

BTW, for those of you that are using something like the BlackBerry Stereo Gateway to stream music to your AUX port...you'll want to wire the AEs to the cigg lighter in the ashtray as I have noticed excessive interference when wired to my cigg lighter in the armrest. Moved the wire (to the cigg lighter in the ashtray) yesterday and the excessive noise is gone. |

Are all your footwell lights out? If so you might have blown the actually bulbs? Or maybe tapping the wires too much resulted in a weak connection to the footwell lighting housings? I'm no electrical expert...just throwing ideas at you.

e.z. I did this at work today on my 06 325i. The color wires on my vehicle were both black and green on both sides. I first used a one amp diode but it wasn't enough it blew the fuses, so i stepped it up to a 3 amp and it work perfectly. I also added inline fuses just in case. I did the drl's and the welcome lights.

man i don't check this thread in a little and it blows up. lol glad everybody is enjoying it... the basic idea was first to have the welcome function for the AE's then the second idea was to use the AE's as DRL's.. it's virtually the same setup just connected to a different power source
Glad you guys liked it! |
