What would you do?

I'm waiting for the dealership to ship the328 I just purchased from Alberta to Ontario. The sale was completed last thursday. they call me yesterday and said that they had a huge snow storm and when they dusted the snow off the car, the windshield had a couple of cracks. Now they have to replace the windshield. 3-5 days before the part comes in and THEN they will ship it.

The salesman that was helping me told me the vehicle was supposed to ship on Tuesday. Apparently they misplaced the paperwork that I sent them so they didn't deal with the shipping til wednesday of this week.

I was thinking of asking for some sort of discount. I just sold the car that I have so now I'm gonna have to get a rental.

Not happy about this.

I'd ask them to cover the cost of your rental, but as long as they are making all the repairs so that the car is restored to the same condition it was in when you made the purchase, I don't think I'd push for any extra discounts.

Maybe make them throw in some floor mats.

I agree. Surely they will cover your rental. Don't be one of those guys that tries to get something for nothing. Its not a perfect world...sh&t happens.

Maybe ask them to pay for some or all of the rental, I don't think it is to much to ask! You would think that they would have moved the car inside if they knew it was shipping and a storm was coming!

They all sit out side at the factory , then at port before being loaded, then at port after shipment........I wonder why it cracked in the first place?

Windshield cracking from dusting snow off of it?

HIGHLY unlikely unless the car was warm on the inside...or foul play was involved...

definitely get them to pay for the rental

I would make a huge deal out of it and maybe they'll throw in something extra, but I wouldn't ask.

Not your fault that the windshield cracked and the paperwork was misplaced.

Not the service you would expect, hopefully they will take care of your inconvenience and throw in some winter mats hehe.

Hopefully they will ship the vehicle properly. I guess do a thorough PDI.

Just curious, any reason for getting your 328 from AB vs. ON?

Thanks for all the tips...I might call them today, something doesn't seem right.

As for the purchase, I went on BMW.ca and looked at all the CPO's across CAnada. I really wanted the black xdrive/premiumpackage/sport package/spoke rims/beige interior. When I saw this one, with the oyster interior (which I'd never seen before) I was sold. This vehicle had everything I wanted and the oyster was a bonus. Otherwise, yeah I would have just shopped in Ontario.

Huge PITA so far and this window cracking ain't helping..but I'm sure It'll be worth it when she arrives.

Its just a windshield. I don't see what the big deal is. I think its a definite bonus for you ....brand new unpitted windscreen?

I suppose that's true...just tacking on at least another 5 days before delivery though...with the weekend coming up and whatnot.

I expected the vehicle to be here by now...now they're telling me about 2 weeks

We all know the windshield did not crack from the snow, the big question is, if the windshield is cracked, what else is damage on the car. For all you know, they could be touching up other damages as we speak. If you cannot fully inspect the car before signing the paper work, I would pass on the deal. Is it one of those deals that once the car is shipped to you, you own it?

Yeah, I own it once its shipped. I've read the reviews on Edmonton BMW and they are mostly positive. Furthermore, the vehicle is CPO and under warranty for a little bit more than 2 years. So I'm not overly concerned.

I just want the damn car already

doubt they'll cover the rental. You should have waited until the vehicle arrived before you sold your old one.

Get a loaner from the dealership. Don't bother with rentals

Now, what is even stranger is that when I bought the car the windows were not tinted as you can see by the original photos on page here:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=764840.

So the salesamn sent me an updated pic of the vehicle in the repair bay where he said they are repairing the windshield and now all of a sudden the windows are all tinted at 5%??? I wanted the windows tinted anyway but wtf??

Keep in mind that I have yet to see the vehicle in person because I live in a different province, but this all seems strange to me.
