what's the hotness in coding cables?

read the DIY coding thread and it recommended getting the $99 cable,

however I noticed that the post is quite old so I was wondering if the cheaper ebay options have caught up in terms of quality

any opinions on the following?

eBay ones are still hit or miss. I will stick with the 99$ one

I'd highly recommend purchasing the $99 cable; I have it and have connected to multiple cars of varying ages with no issues.

The eBay cables tend to be cheap for a reason.
