Went shopping!

So RB classics got sent off to be rebuilt after 6 years of service to the next step of RB next gens. Since most of the engine and the underside of the vehicle is accessible I decided to splurge and do extensive upgrades/long term maintenance. Have I missed anything that you would do while having the motor torn apart?

RB turbo service and upgrade
Silicone inlets
High Flow Oil drains
Install kit
PCV upgrade
PCV screw cap
OEM vent hose
ADE motor mounts
Replacement steering line rubber mount
Front O2 sensors
Black UUC transmission mounts
Shiftek SS and DSSR
BMS OCC

On the fence about outlets.

Is there a coolant I should use? Thermostat? Boost solenoids? Oil???

Any tips for assembly?

Lastly, she still has a PROcede in her....I know nothing about tuning. I know how to do logs but other than that clueless.

Do the outlets itll help those turbos breath youll love the sound of the turbo spool.

Waterpump/thermostat? Coolant wise just bmw coolant.

Any ll01 approved i personally use motul 5w/40 8100 excess.

I would also check the oil pan to see if there is any leaks and get that replace.

As for the proceed, dump it get yourself mhd and custom tune.

Replacing vacuum lines seems to be the hottest "DIY" this month (I'm Finally getting to it this week)

IMO, replacing the stock OEM cowl with the M3 cowl was one of my greatest investments.. almost all maintenance can now be done without having to remove the cowl since it's no longer in the way

Also Don't forget about cleaning your vanos solenoids; they're really quick and easy

I replaced a lot of things while I was in there.
  • Oil pan gasket
  • Oil pan bolt set
  • Oil level sensor o-ring
  • Water pump
  • Water pump bolts
  • Coolant hoses
  • Motor mounts
  • Downpipe V-band clamps
  • Vacuum lines
  • Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W40 motor oil (6 liters)
  • Red Line synthetic power steering fluid (1 quart)
  • BMW coolant/antifreeze (2 gallons)

Water pump is basically new.

I'd imagine thermostat was replaced with it.

Understood on the coolant.

Oil, I use amsoil. Comparable to motul?

No leaks off the oil pan.

I might wait on the tuner setup. I have a lot of questions/ignorance on the subject and its compatibility with what I already have, like integrating the PWM meth system, getting custom tunes, how to data log off those systems, etc. I do know the Vishnu system is old technology, but if it will hold me over for a bit until I'm sure I'll have no issues with what I have it what I need to get, I will.

Totally forgot about the vacuum lines. Will get those tonight.

Also had seen the cowl and forgot, thanks for mentioning!! I'll order that.

VANOS Solenoids. Got it. That will be good preventative.

Oh man, didn't realize about the water pump bolts. Are there any other one time use screws/bolts I need to get? I ordered the turbo install and I know that come with new studs/bolts for the manifolds. Are vband clamps necessary?

For Outlets I went with VTTO excellent fitment on my build. There is also MMP but some people have had issue with the outlet touching the manifold I don't know if it was an install error or not but the customer support is top notch.

Amsoil is one the best oils along Motul/Rotella T6/Redline just make sure you use a 5W unless you live somewhere its cold/snow and park outside I would go with 0W

verociousmotorsports has great silicone vaccuum lines

BMS has a cowl delete if you wanna save instead of the M3 cowl

Walnut blast? Changed pully's and Belt? Since your upgrading your vacuum lines did you upgraded vacuum nipple on the throttle body?

Appreciate the response! Walnut blast done. Should do pulleys and belt. I don;t recall a nipple on the throttle body?

Also, one of the biggest questions I have... what do I do about my Procede/PWM meth kit? I cant' find anything referencing integration of the PROcede with MHD and can't find if the JB4 will integrate with the PWM meth kit. any guidance here?

I'm sorry I meant manifold, there is a vacuum line that goes from the manifold to your charge pipe/bov I'm assuming you have cp/bov

As for the Procede/PWM you either find a tuner that can tune it or go MHD/JB4
