That is wicked! However, isnt it against FAA regulations to send an unmanned balloon into the Air Space without a permit? It could have easily been sucked into a planes engine and could have caused a catastrophe.

not to rain on this guys parade, however, there are whole groups of people doing this, it kind of a club, like those guys who shoot off rocket in the deserts. This guy and his son are in a long list of people who have done similar things. It is the new fad, can you launch a cell phone into space at little cost as possible.
