Thumbs up

Just did my PPK stage 1 upgrade and it feels awesome specially at 40 -50 mph and in either 3 or 4 gear, the exhaust note is pretty amazing. Even all windows closed I can hear it loud.... extremely happyyyy...!!!!

Drove to Belgium today (800km).

Started at 2.45 AM. Was there at 8.30 AM.

A lot of high speed driving on the Autobahn I maxed out very often and holding it for few minutes...

Smooth acceleration untill 260 km/h. Then you def feel the limiter. It reaches top speed smoother and faster since i have the PPK!

Cooling was not a problem (12-18 degrees). Temp was never over 120 degrees! Noticing that temp drops when going faster then 220km/h (Not over 110 degrees)

Still having good feelings about durability of the engine after upgrading

This is what we like to hear! I stand by each claim 100%. I've been driving with the PPK for about 5 months now, and loving it every day. On the contrary to what many say, the PPK does not get old; especially the exhaust, it just sounds fantastic when you step on it.

NO GOOD NEWS

Drove back today from Belgium to Switzerland (800km)

This time i drove during the day (30 degrees). Temp still did not exceed 120 degrees!

You really notice the heat! You feel that the engine is being heat soaked!

After 700 km of fast driving, maxing out multiple times and being stopped also multiple times for heavy traffic, i arrived in Switzerland with some 100 km to go on restricted Autobahn (120 km/h). After 60 km, driving in cruise mode, it happens...

THE CAR WENT IN LIMP MODE

Drove untill the next best place were i could stop. Stopped the engine and ignition. After waiting a while, i started again. Without limp... Drove back with no problem...

You know, if it happened in Germany on the Autobahn, i would understand it, but after 45 min driving at constant 120 km/h... I'm a bit worried...

UPDATE:

Called the dealer just now, he said that if it is the first and only time, i should wait... No need checking untill it happens again... Could just be a malfunction of the sensor system...

So, let's drive some more...

Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Your speeds weren't nearly as fast as they can be. I have a feeling it might be more related to the car itself rather than the PPK. I had a two-hour drive around high-elevation mountain roads to the beach the other day, averaging about 80 mph in the mid 70's temps, and the car ran perfectly good. Keep us updated, my friend!

UPDATE: No limp modes untill now... Next time i go to the dealer, i'm going to let them make a read out!

I was thinking yesterday that the last gas pump where i filled up was a bit on the slow side... Maybe some bad gas...

Unfortunately, not many. But there is a dyno sheet in this thread on the PPK. But man, even without a dyno, your ass knows it's much better than stock, lol.

PPK

Those are definitely some nice numbers.

I've had it now for almost a day. I only had the car for 7 days before I gave it back to them for 8, so my perspective got lost. It felt fast as hell before, feels fast as hell now.

How do I physically confirm that it's installed? They badged it all up under the hood but I still have my doubts when asking someone else to do the work. The exhaust burbles and pops 'a little bit' when downshifting, but it COULD have been doing that before and I just wasnt listening for it - it's fairly discreet from inside the car.

I did check this morning on a cold start, and for at least 30 seconds after it started it still had the left pipe closed. My understanding was that the PPK kept both pipes open all the time, is it different if its a cold start and its warming up?

Any opinions or ideas for verification of a correct install?

Overall I am pretty pleased. I purchased a CPO XI with sport but not the 18 inch wheels, and I got them to put in the oil cooler free of charge so they could install the PPK.

Thanks Guys

I have a 135i with the DCT -

For me there is a very noticable increase in the gurgle and popping with the PPK installed. Back off the gas at 2500 rpm or below and its snap crackle pop all the way down almost to idle speed. I had a noticeable gain down low and it pulls harder up top as well. I would say its an improvement - but not a transformation. Overall very please with it.

You have Performance Edition and PPK? I thought the Performance Edition was PPK from the factory....
