Go for it! If you don't have problems with your 335= WIN
If you do have problems, the trouble and expense will make you appreciate a more reliable car like the 330. =WIN Sometimes you have to date the hot supermodel, and have her cheat on you before you can appreciate the cute girl next door that treats you like a king

Go for it man. I went from a E90 328i to a E92 335i. No problems so far. The only foreseeable problem in the future for my car is replacing the turbos (in Canada, it isn't under the same extended warranty as it is in the US). I realize this will cost me 3k, but you got to play to pay and I'm willing to pay! The price of the performance upgrade to me is worth it to me.

As everyone els is saying the N54 is amazing. An can be even more amazing with a simple tune. I don't think I'll be getting another car until I retire. Gotta get a Porsche when that happens lol. As others have said be smart. Don't be that guy with a nice ride and no "house". I feel bad when I see people driving and spending all there money on a car/cars and don't own a home. Put your priorities first.

I would keep the 330. Too many scare stories regarding 335i reliability for me to feel comfortable owning one. Money isn't an issue, the hassle of taking the car back to the dealer for fixes is.

this topic has been beaten to death. I bought my e90 330i brand new and I still have it almost 8 years ( In July) and I wouldn't trade it for a 335i.
I wouldn't ever trade it in or sell it. 335i would be one of the last cars I owned in terms of BMWs. Don't get me wrong its a nice looking car but the problems kill it. I love driving my friends cars and they are all tuned and modded but doesn't do it for me. They made this car a EURO tuner lol. Just think of how many STI/EVO/G35/350Z trade in their cars for this car. |

Lol I have an 07 build. Hpfp replaced once by 1st owner. No problems with the car otherwise. Now has 66k on it. And bmw warranty covers it until 100k.

After reading this thread and If I didn't know anything I'd think the 335 would break down everyday...
You guys are hilarious. The 335i isn't bad at all. There are probably a few quirky things but what car doesn't have it's share of problems? 98-02 Honda Accord were notorious for transmission failures. 01-03 Acura TL/CL same issues Jags with there electronic problems 06+ Honda Civic Si with their infamous 3rd gear synchro failing BMW 335i HPFP?

Just to stir the pot, its true the N54 gets a bad rep on this site, but just imagine, for every disgruntled owner who comes here to vent, there are hundreds of owners who are happy and don't feel the need to come here and praise it. If you are scared of a little maintenance, stick to public transportation, if you want to own a drivers car, be prepared to pay a little bit for it. If the N52 doesn't do it for you, upgrade and get the N54, or just skip the middle step and jump right to a M3.

My 335i has been bombproof- the only thing its gone to the dealer for is regular service such as oil change, spark plug change etc. of course if your 335i is modded, all bets are off. But a stock 335i is pretty reliable these days as long as you dont cheap out when it comes to preventative maintenance. |

I had a 330i before I totalled it and just bought my 07 335i 28k miles for 23k 3 months ago. Let me tell you it's a whole nother beast. So far I've only had to replace the Window regulator and had the clutch replaced as well as a small boost leak from a bad shift (Money Shifted) all was fixed under my CPO warranty for 50$ deductible. Tbh If you can afford all the maintenance on a non CPO car then go for it... I didn't expect any problems with my bimmer and Ive already totalled up to 3k in maintenance if it wasn't for CPO. The power/torque definitely makes up for it... And I'm not even tuned yet!
