I'd love to get a passenger lap in a new M3 though .... the 335d is feels quick, I wonder how much quicker the M3 will feel ... Plus it sounds completley different

I had been in passengerlap of an M3 CSL, as well as a porsche GT2. I know which one to pick should I be able to choose again

Watched your vid last night at home BoBBoB...
Very good and you drive pretty much the same lines and pace as me, albeit I was last there in an E90 330i |

Great video's BoBBoB!
Love the 'slide' vid - "Yeah, the slower ones don't bother me, I know I can gather it up...F*CKING HELL!" That was great, very funny! I do love the 'ring, only been the once but definitely heading back soon...

It felt way way worse sat in the car, I had one of those oh my god i'm going to be facing backwards in an Amrco thoughts, but due to my superior driving skill (and luck) managed to steer in and carry on ...

I don't think I will ever have the balls to turn DTC off at the Ring. Like the vid though, good memory for you!

Vid not working 9.20`s a very respectable time mate, best I managed in my 325d was 9.53 (8.50 in the M3 before the S/C was fitted) Here`s a very bad lap (quite a few accidents) with the roof down and 3 pax onboard. |

If the video isn't working it may be because its HD, try clicking the HD icon and watch in SD (Standard Definition) ?

Its still a diesel, think back 5 years, the best D you could buy was probably a 2.0tdi :-( no way was anyone taking anything like that near a racetrack .... I would love to own a V8 one day, with my job I do 25,000 miles a year so I had to get the fastest diesel I could. After a re-map its just fantastic ... I have never timed a ring lap, I don't really want to, but its good to cheekily record them and then view them back to find out what the time is. My first lap with the car full of nervous newbies was a good 11:30, it was slightly damp and I enjoyed taking it easy on the brakes. As the weekend went on the track dried and got busier, by late Sunday the only way to enjoy a lap was to get on and attack it. One of the guys we were with went out in his Smart fourtwo !!! he had an awful time as everyone overtook him, something like 20-30 cars ... One day I may have the balls and money, and to already have 100-200 laps under my belt, and a decent prepared car, then I can have a time-attack lap ... we can all dream ;-) When are you taking the S/C M3 there ? |

Been back twice with it Bob but never timed a lap. TBH I don`t think I`m anymore than maybe 10s a lap quicker. Even if the car had another 500 hp I don`t think I`d be a great deal quicker as I pretty much go as fast as my brain and arse allow me to, the only way I can see myself improving is with practice and track knowledge, a clear lap would be nice too. I don`t use the brakes anywhere near as much as I used to but still lift in an awful lot of places where I should really be flat out, which is why you see the ring taxi pull away so easily in that video. Don`t think I`ll be able to make it again this year `tho. |
