I haven't had much going on lately as I've had some set backs with parts. I found out the intermediate shaft I needed had to be specifically from a 2.0 16v. I used a 1.8 16v shaft and oil pump drive gear. It's been hell to find those parts as they came in a very short production run, but I finally have some on the way from Canada. The motor has to be pulled out to swap the shafts, so I haven't done anything else since I would just have to take it off. Next weekend I'll be swapping them out and hopefully can get moving on this project again.
I have more goodies that will be going in soon as well: Summit Racing Aluminum Fuel Cell 15gal Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump CXRacing Air to Water intercooler kit Parts to Fab up a Short Runner intake manifold |

She's starting to come together now. We've been slowly putting stuff together. Fuel cell, and pump should be officially mounted this week. RabbitPusher is also going to start making my downpipe.

I just stumbled on this thread. Sweet build!
Maybe I'll see this at PBIR one day.

Thanks Nick!
Thanks! Thanks! Thanks Brock! And thanks for giving me a ride at the PSI meet. I'm sure you'll see it this spring. There is a half mile roll racing event in January I was hoping to do, but doesn't look like I'll be ready in time. |

Well, I've been waiting on parts that got lost in the mail, and classes just started back up, so I haven't gotten a lot done. The engine bay is getting fuller. I now have a water, accessories bracket, alternator, and starter in. I also got a front end for the car from the junk yard, along with a 3 bar badge-less grille (not from the junk yard lol) RabbitPusher sprayed the grille for me and it came out pretty well. I also decided to Wet sand and polish the entire car. The paint is much better than I had expected. It is a 15 year old car with 310k on the body so it does have it flaws, but still came out very well.
I'm started to get excited now. It's starting to look like a real car, a 1000 times better than when I got it. |

I'm not sure exactly. I'd hate to throw a number out there and not be anywhere near it. I'm not chasing a number now, but I will have everything for a 750whp set up. The limiting factors now are my stock rods, and exhaust manifold. A guy with a 6262 stock motor on 21psi and 93oct made 475whp only revving to 7200. His power band was dying up top and he trapped 132 in the 1/4. With the 6266, e85, 8k rev limiter, and bigger cams 500whp "should" be easily attainable on 20psi. It makes what it makes though. If it makes 450 I'll still be happy. It'll be plenty quick for what I want to do with it.

VW Justin Made my downpipe yesterday. I'm happy. He tacked it up on the car, and then we went over to Fast Car's Inc. in Boca. Our buddy Dane works there, and they let Justin learn to Tig Weld on my Downpipe.

Awesome, man! Glad to see it coming together.
I second the comment about "leave it looking like a 350k mile car" and destroying unsuspecting people with it. Haha. |

Lol. The only aesthetic I have to do it respray the roof. It's pretty oxidized looking. The wet sanding couldn't even save it. I now have a shiny oxidized roof lol

Nothing super exciting to report. So far, I've put some new axles in, did a rear disk break conversion. I'm using MKIV Beetle calipers. Still waiting for my EBC yellow pads to come in. Also have my girling 60 twin piston calipers waiting to go on. I decided to put in a new set of cams, Tectonics Tuning 268/276. Fuel set is officially mounted, and hole cut for the sump. My Carburetor (EMS Pro, Megasquirt based Standalone) came in. I also cut my runners for my intake manifold. Just waiting for my buddy to mill them flat for me.

Intake manifold is done, on our part. Just waiting on the welder to finish up. Said it'll be done tomorrow. Also had some -10 fitting welded into my valve cover for a breather. I got a little so bored so I decided to paint and polish my valve cover. Oh, and the ports were cleaned up from what you see in the photos prior to being dropped off at the welder. We originally planned on putting bell mouths in the manifold, but I decided it wasn't worth it to me.
