CCV system, how's it work on our cars..??

I've saw the diagram posted below and it has me thinking.. First of all, how come those passage ports in the valve cover are not able to be cleaned out..?? I mean to replace the entire valve cover just to ensure a working PCV system seems a bit rough, but this is only because of my lack of knowledge on how this system exactly works.. I'm used to a single PCV valve having a vacuum hose attached to it, and when it goes bad you pop it out and throw in a new one, simple stuff.. Well before I go digging mine apart i'm just trying to figure out how it works so I have a better understanding of why I'm doing what I'm doing lol.. If anyone has a better understanding or a way of dictating this "flow" I'd appreciate it..

thanks...

UPDATE:

So I crawled under my car this weekend and inspected the v-band clamps on the turbos to see if they were leaking and they were bone dry, I still intend on taking off the DP's to inspect but that was just my first visual take on things.. Second, I believe my oil pan gasket is shot, or at least something that contains oil and could cause this is shot lol.. I sprayed the whole area with degreaser and let it sit so I will clean it up some more to see if I can tell where the oil is leaking from..

You are correct the valve cover (along with the gasket) is a very large failure point and many are not aware of this fact. We are actually almost done with a kit that will bypass it all while retaining all OEM functionality. This means replacing valve covers for preventative maintenance or for reason of trouble isolation is soon to be a thing of the past.

Should be next week sometime. Mostly plug and play with a relatively easy install. Essentially what we will be doing is externalizing the process, affecting primarily the #4 "Ventilation, naturally aspirated mode (decel)" as this is the portion that is prone to failure. The kit will require the use of an RB PCV Valve and thus come with one, or if you already have one it can be reused.

Awesome, I was going to place my valve cover order today but if this will be ready next week sometime I'm definitely interested.. I think I may have a valve cover gasket leak anyways which is causing all my smoke, so I plan on removing and inspecting it this weekend but I also am gonna order the RB PCV valve this weekend too.. Is there anywhere you have more information on this development..?? Thanks Rob!

You may be awrae but RB already sells 3 in your diagram. Many have replaced that, which doesnt leak and pressurize cc.

Yeah I know that the PCV valve resolves many of the issues but I guess I was just trying to figure out what makes it do that..

So i just started my car and tried to remove the oil filler cap as I've read that if theres bad suction, that's a PCV sign of failure but it came off easily as always so should I assume my PCV system is fine..?? It also started billowing out smoke the second I started it, and this is the first time I've started my car in 3 days..

This will not eliminate a already clogged VC, I would still replace it if it has miles and also tap the head if running a decent amount of boost. You don't want boost entering VC.

He will have awesome fittings, you won't have to tap VC like in my DIY. I have had most of everything he has made and its very high quality. Only reason I will not be using them is because I tapped my manifold already and I like the extra bling.

Yeah man I am only on stock boost, untuned, etc.. So there is no way to clean out own valve covers..!?! That's crazy that we have to buy a whole new valve cover.. I thought I read somewhere that someone took there's off and soaked it in some cleaner or something like that..

Might as well pull the intake manifold off a little bit and take a look at how much build up is on the intake valves. It'll give you a good idea of the condition of the rest of the ventilation system. If the intake valves look bad I'm willing to bet the CCV system is worse..

I'm thinking about pulling it apart anyways and doing my own walnut blast.. My local harbor freight has everything I need..

I wouldn't use walnut shells, I use carb cleaner, compressor, gun cleaning brush.

Walnut shells clog VC, I have deen many filled with shells...they go up ports in VC
