+1 on the space wheel, its a must have option in my view even if you have RFTs. If you get a flat the space saver lets you continue about your business rather than look to get ripped off by kwik crap because you are in a hurry to get your tyre fixed. Strap it down under the boot cover, on some cars it'll fit in the under boot area.

Bought the jack from Screwfix, its total crap. Very difficult to turn, no way would your average person manage, then the edges of the black square on the underside of the car that the jack fits into snapped and the jack dropped 1cm.
My advice if you do buy a jack for the car buy a propper BMW one. |

Called about a jack and it's still on back order. Still unsure whether the goo can I have in the boot will actually do the trick, difficult to see how really (hopefully I'll never have to find out).
Actually want to the jack so I can do those nasty rusty hubs. |

E92 shares the same jacking blocks as the E46: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&it em=180379617857 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&it em=300328284836 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&it em=150357918551

Steve/Doughboy,
I know this subject has been beaten to death but have you noticed much improvement in the cars dynamics since ditching the RFTs? Seriously thinking about doing the same but want to be sure its worth it before ditching my RFTs with only 1300 miles on them. Is the improvement THAT significant???!! Thanks in advance. Just a thought- if anyone is struggling to get the BMW jack kit then i could help as im in Germany and my local dealer has them in stock- i can get accesories/parts tax free. Only negative is the poor exchange rate pound/euro which has made prices here look higher than they used to. |

Re the non RFTs, I'd give the car a few more miles before you choose. But remember you're not ditching the RFTs, keep them in the shed / loft and you can put them back if you don't like them / selling the car. Same with the non RFTs, you can always sell em to some tightwads on fleebay. I only had non RFTs on for 3 weeks before selling my 330i and I will be putting some on the 335i, but not just yet as I don't want to muddy the waters with my ARBs and LSD which ar coming on 23rd July. |

to the guys that have the jack, compressor, tyre weld etc etc. have you found a nice way to store it all in the boot hollow? i have been toying with some industrial foam with cut outs for each part, like you get in a professional camera briefcase thing for lense, body etc, am i making sense?

The boot hollow used to come with a foam insert (E92 anyway). This got deleted when BMW reduced the specification of the cars in March this year. Some people with pre March 09 cars didn't have it either - don't know why, and I don't think 335 owners have ever had it due to the twin exhausts.
Perhaps it can be bought as an accessory now? |

Here are some pics, note the jack is different from the E46 jack suggested earlier, this one is a very heavy and substantial sissor jack tailor made for E9* series

Wow, your setup makes me feel like I'm taking risks with my little can of tyre weld alone!

Bought an E46 jack from ebay £26. So long as the block fits the recess under the car thats all I care about, just need to remove the wheels for re-furbing and cleaning.
Thanks for the tip Hotcoupe |

Things are better now but still not as i had hoped. Ive been playing around with the tyre pressures and it makes a massive difference, im running 2.2F and 2.3R and it feels OK on the Autobahn at high speed- when i ran the recommended pressures it was terrible and to be honest quite scary! Maybe i was expecting too much from the 'ultimate driving machine' Still contemplating the full performance suspension but its 1800 Euros and i want to be 100% certain that the difference will be worth the cash. Also considering the 269 19" wheels. I think ive got used to the feel of the car now-had it up to 140 and it felt ok. Its a shame theyve softened these cars up a bit to appeal to a wider market. When i bought the car it was a choice between this and the new S4, maybe ill cut my losses and get the S4 next year- ill see how things go. Next month ive got a 10 hour drive to the south of France-that should make my mind up one way or the other. Hows your car now? Does it feel any better and have you fitted any mods yet? |

Its in for Hartge anti roll bars and an LSD next week.
I run mine at 2.2/2.4 bar. Seems the best to me. BTW I was looking at the new S4 too, but EVO mag still gave the 3 series the upper hand. A4 is still a nose heavy barge IMO. |
