Take all your valuables out of the car before leaving your car with them. I just had work done by them 2 weeks ago and my sunglasses went awol when I got my car back.. Not happy at all about that.

These guys did a great job on my e46 back when I got U-Hauled. Black paint, had rear quarter panel and both driver side doors redone. They took good care of me, and were very quick. They even did my grilles (which i spray painted and was chipping) so they redid them in matching body paint!

Sorry to hear bout your sunglasses....

Hello from Orléans!
Just registered for this forum, as I just bought a new-to-me 2011 335xi sedan, MT6, sport and cold weather packages, black on black. (Although I think it has too much chrome...)

Currently looking for an OEM roof rack onto which I could strap my Thule ski rack.

If anyone local is looking for a catless downpipe for their N55, I am selling mine for $300. It's been used only a few months this summer. I have the PE mod done and found it too loud with the downpipe so I went back to the stock downpipe.

Fits the following BMWs:

2011 2012 2013 E82 BMW 135

2010 2011 2012 2013 E90 E91 E92 E93 BMW 335i 335xi N55 (coupes and sedans, RWD and xDrive)

2012 2013 2014 2015 E84 BMW X1 35i

More details here:

Thanks!

Competent mechanic

Does anyone know a competent mechanic who could diagnose the issue with my car? I lost confidence at my dealer's technicians after what happened recently.

Just before Christmas, I took my car (2011 335i coupe, MT, AWD) to the dealer for an oil change and investigate why once (about couple of months ago) my car stopped while waiting at the red light and stalled while driving right after that. The SA suggested that it is time to change the spark plugs as my car has 99K km on it, which I agreed. They kept the car overnight and in addition to oil change and spark plug changes, they charged me 3 hours labour, 1 for investigation and 2 for updating the software to make it recent since it was never updated since factory loading, stating that this software update fixes the stalling issue. I wasn't happy that they are charging me for a bug fix software update, where the bug was present in the factory loaded software, day one. But, this is another story.

I drove my car home and it felt quite nice. The next day, while I was driving the engine light came on, that is all yellow. Was it a coincidence that this light is coming on right after my visit to the dealer and their software upgrade? I went back to the dealer and they charged me another hour of labour for investigating and finding nothing (claiming that this light has nothing to with what they did a day ago, it is pure coincidence), except to say that it is the code 28A0 that is causing the engine light to turn on. I did some searching at this forum's archive and it turns out this code is very allusive and well known, and people say that it is not an important code. Now, the dealer wants to spend another 5 hours to investigate, to open the valve cover and inspect valvetronic system for damage, and I certainly didn't approve this investigation.

So, do you know a technician who can find the root cause of this issue and resolve it?

Thanks.

Call Ralf, the service manager at Canadian Tire on Carling Ave. Trust me, he knows his BMWs, and they service a ton of high performance cars at that garage. Not your typical Crappy Tire. Tell him Brendan referred you.

Hi guys, I got my N54 intake valves cleaned today by Ottostadt MotorWerks in Aylmer. They did a great job and my car pulls harder and much smoother now. These are the guys that were willing to do a group buy last year (see a few pages back in this thread). Even the regular price is less than half of what the dealer charges. Overall, I would totally recommend them. Cheers.

Hey folks, I've been running an E85 blend in my car for a little while now. As far as I know it's only available at the MacEwen at Bank and the Queensway. I live in the 'burbs but pass by there on my way to hockey every week so stop in and top up with E85. Logs look real good running a 95 octane MHD tune with a mix of Petro 94 and E85.

I've often heard that gas stations lower the ethanol content of E85 in the winter, but was curious what the winter content of ethanol is and when they change it so I sent MacEwen a few emails and someone called me back today. The fellow I spoke to said they lower the ethanol content to 55% from November to March and do E85 from April to November. He said 55% was he lowest they've gone, and that they switched to the summer blend at the beginning of the month.

After I got off the phone I wished I had asked if they test the octane rating of their ethanol or E85 blend as I've heard different numbers. I've got the number on my phone so I think I'll call back tomorrow and see. Can't hurt to ask, right?

Anyway, thought this might be useful information for those running E85 to help figure out their ethanol content.
