Digital for sure for 2 reasons..

Instant MPG is pretty useless..
Oil Temp gauge is too important to mess with... I would be too worried if I could not monitor my temps at all times

Please stick with digital.. No one will complain about the loss of instant MPG

Digital it is. Now we just have some work to do. I'll be posting up a video later today showing what we have so far in terms of code clearing and on-dash map display. Currently working on knock and ignition advance logging for all you tuners/racers out there that are hunting for every last horsepower.

In all the pages and pages of threads in this forum, I read somewhere that the ECU stores a code indicating when codes were cleared. For example, if you cleared your codes on a given date and time, another code or maybe a data file is stored indicating the given date and time. This would tell the dealer that the codes have been cleared arousing suspicion.

Is this anything that you're aware of?

I don't see how this is possible. I've even approached some "friendlies" at the dealership level and they aren't aware of anything either. And neither is Duram of BavTech. Until we can get some confirmation that such a log exists, I can't say much. But even if it does, I cant see the simple act of sending code clear commands a cause of anything other than suspicion. Especially when there is nothing actually wrong with the car

I think the rumor is a flash write counter embedded somewhere by BMW. Most like FUD spread by someone but I'd love for the rumor to be debunked.

Isn't there a syslog of when the DME was accessed?

all joking aside, how about a race mode? can you make it so that it would switch the map, turn on the boost gauge, and then turn dtc off. now that would be something. maybe even throw in launch control.

Shiv can you do something like this?

Probably. But we aren't going to mess around with traction control logic. Too much liability. Plus, your suggestion assumes that everyone wants traction control to turn off when in race mode.

Same reason we aren't going to trigger maps by pressing the DTC button. There are other buttons that are just as easy to switch that wont mess around with basic functionality.

I strenuously object!,
j/k

reguardless of what button actuates it, i just thought it would be a cool feature especially if the user were able to set the race mode funtions. i know not everyone would want traction off but it would be a prety cool option IMO. thanks for the response and the REV2 that came in the mail today.

THIS IS GREAT!!! I Was going to get a boost gauge, strictly to keep an eye on any boost leaks (essential in any turbo car). I don't really need it to accurate in terms of where the reading is coming from, as long as it's consistent, it should help in determining leaks etc.

For those who just have to have multiple maps floating around in memory, that sounds like a great idea - easy listening station for valet, top 40 for everyday driving, and the heavy metal station for tire shredding torque.

If the boost display is digital (which it looks like it will be), it will read in psi, not bar
