2007 328xi GM trans replacement

My current trans in D starts in 1 and goes into neutral. I have to drive in manual mode to take off. Have another trans for it now and ready to swap tomorrow. Will it need coded? Or should the TCU be swapped from the old trans.

I would leave it intact. Flash with WinKFP and default code with NCS afterwards.
